Anyone waiting on the London ballot?

A week to go till the ballot results are released...

I know there is little chance of getting in but it's beginning to feel like the build up to A level results day....

I'm waiting for the sixth year but if I get in I may turn down my place. I am doing the royal parks half next week and have been training but am so scared and have such self doubts. I can only run the first six miles then have to run and walk and I think it will take me four hours to finish. A full marathon is definitely not for me!

ThursdayLastWeek · 08/10/2018 07:33

Good luck everyone!

Staying alive you'll do fine / don't panic about the half ... even running and walking you'll get round in less than 4 hours

Anyone heard yet? I bet I get my rejection email on Friday!! Grin

oneWeirdReSister · 08/10/2018 12:12

I got my magazine today! I need to get cracking - had an injury earlier this year and my fitness levels are down.

BertandQueenieforever · 08/10/2018 12:14

That’s great oneWeird congrats!

EdithDickie · 08/10/2018 12:17

Nothing yet... I should probably stop obsessively checking my email really!

SweetestThing · 08/10/2018 12:17

We've applied from our house for a ballot entry a total of at least 25 times over the past 14 years and never once been successful. Confidently expecting rejection number 26 this week. We never have any joy with the Ride 100 ballot either (15 rejections for that).

Have run it 6 times on charity places but won't bother trying for a charity place if (when) I am unsuccessful in the ballot.

EdithDickie · 08/10/2018 12:18

Congratulations oneWeird!!

HettyPain · 08/10/2018 12:20

I'm waiting too. Got in last year and had a brilliant yet very painful experience! Chances of getting in twice in a row must be pretty low.

Congratulations oneWeird!

GiantKitten · 08/10/2018 12:21

DS2 got a no today 😕

But with a really cool black rain/wind jacket as a consolation prize 😊

oneWeirdReSister · 08/10/2018 12:36

Thanks! Am terrified now.

sheepysheep · 08/10/2018 13:04

Does anyone know when they update the realbuzz website? Postman has been and it’s just bills and a catalogue....

sheepysheep · 08/10/2018 13:05

Well done oneWeird 👍 that’s great news!!

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 08/10/2018 13:05

Im really hoping to get in. Ran it for the first time last year and completely loved it!

RocketPockets · 08/10/2018 13:08

I've received my commiserations magazine this morning along with my rain/wind jacket from my bequeathed entry!
Good luck to those waiting!

girlsyearapart · 08/10/2018 13:32

I got my place this morning...
We made three entries from our house and I’m the only one who’s heard.
Second time applying second time successful Smile

AuntieStella · 08/10/2018 14:04

Anyone know when they will be emailing?

I tried looking on the registration hub, but there's nothing added there about outcome, and I wouidn't know where else to look on line.

Or do you only get an email if you get neither place nor commiseration mag?

And, can someone explain bequeathing to me? Preferably in words of one syllable, because I found the whole description utterly baffling back when I was entering the ballot.

AuntieStella · 08/10/2018 14:08

And for those who like number crunching:

"The wait is over. From today (Monday 8 October) the 414,168 applicants for the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon will find out if they have been successful in the ballot and have a place in the race on Sunday 28 April.

"The record number of hopefuls included 347,876 applicants from the UK, an increase of 20,376 from the record number that applied for the 2018 race. A total of 66,292 people applied in the overseas ballot."

girlsyearapart · 08/10/2018 14:29

auntiestella I think the bequeathing thing is that you pay your entrance fee and can tick a box to give it to charity if you don’t get a place and they send you a jacket

TheMouseInMyPocket · 08/10/2018 14:54

Oh crap, I'm inShock

Imnotreadyforthis · 08/10/2018 15:03

I’m also waiting and obsessively refreshing my inbox Blush.
I live overseas so no consolation jacket for me

Congrats to those who know already!!

FreshEyre · 08/10/2018 15:18

Fifth rejection here! Sad

I had really hoped that this would be the year.

sheepysheep · 08/10/2018 15:43

Another no for me :-( Nothing in the post but a big fat red cross on the buzzfeed registration page :-(
Well done to those who are in and good luck to those who’ve yet to hear
