Post event blues - what is this emotion?

This isn't a stealth boast. I'm not looking for praise.

I've done a few runs/triathlons this year.

Yesterday I did a duathlon. (10k run and 20k bike) It was hard. I had amazing support from my running club. Oh and my family.

But as soon as I saw the results I just felt so flat. I can't shake it off.

It just seemed so slow. I don't know how to arrange my emotions.

I've got a few more 10ks and a triathlon to go this year. Just feeling a bit 'meh'.

Does anyone else identify with this?

I definitely know what you mean. There can be such a slump after. I think it's maybe because if you've been aiming for something for a while and now it's done it can feel like a big gap and it's hard to feel motivated to carry on. Also, I definitely tend towards the self critical if I feel disappointed in myself for any reason. I usually pick myself back up after a bit. I find writing about the event in my journal really helpful, what went well, anything I'd change, etc. Forcing myself to see the achievement of what I've done even if it's "everything felt dreadful but I still kept plodding along" really helps.

I hope you're feeling better soon. It's a real achievement to do what you've done!

Thank you Smile

I saw the photos today and for the first time EVER i have flying feet, so I have bought a couple. I figure it'll be nice to look back on.

I've also realised how crap I'm eating. I'm now really focusing on less sugar but more carbs and protein.

I am feeling a bit better about impending events now. I think.

It definitely happens! You focus on something and it occupies your brain for months, then it's done & it's like 'what's next'?! Take a bit of time to process how it went & enjoy the achievement. I usually then try to find a new race or make a new plan that builds on what I have just done. Good luck with your future events.

Yes it's like a wedding or something?

I think writing about it would help. I think learning from the mistakes would be a positive too.
