Gaining weight C25K

Hi just wanted to ask a quick question.

I started C25K 2 weeks ago and am about to start week 3 tomorrow. So far so good 😊

However I've actually put weight on. Around 3/4lb in the last 2 weeks! I'm not really eating anything more than I was I've been tracking my food in my fitness pal for months so can see that except a banana after when I get back from my C25K session in the morning.

I don't believe it can be the whole muscle ways more as I've only been doing it 2 weeks 3 x a week. So 6 times in all.

Did this happen to anyone else? It's not very motivating getting on the scales and gaining!

Thanks

Its more likely that your muscles are retaining water. Happens a lot after exercise, particularly if you’re new to it. If your arms, legs or back are sore from exercise that’s a sign they are holding extra water. It’s not extra fat and it’s not muscle growth, it’s just your body holding on to fluid and if you keep it up it will sort itself out after a while.

Thank you! I've no intention of giving it up as I'm really enjoying it and it's the only time I get some quiet me time lol

I'll ignore the scales for a while! (It's hard! I'm an addict to the scales, get on them almost daily!

I agree with Letshope - it's likely to be your body retaining water rather than fat gain, and it will disappear if you stick with it. I had similar when I started exercising more regularly early this year, including doing C25K which I finished a few weeks ago. Well done on starting C25K - I loved the time away from the house too. Try to wean yourself off the scales though - no good comes of weighing every day, there are far too many daily fluctuations! Try for twice a week, then once a week :)
