Hellooo!

I'm going to start C25K soon along side the gym. I usually just exersise at home doing HIIT and weights (in bare feet Grin) but now I'm going to need some decent trainers.. problem is is that I never wear them so have no idea what to look for! Think I was around 18 last time I wore any Blush
Can anyone recommend any good running shoes/trainers that aren't too expensive please??

Asics always work for me but it's defi Italy worth getting your gait analysed and try some on in shop. You'll be able to run in them there to see if they are comfortable. The best running gear I've got were insoles moulded to my feet, they make any shoes perfect for me. Sweatshop do them and in the grand scheme of things they are quite affordable.

It’s worth going to a running shop as there are so many different trainers. People have different sorts of feet, different hips, knees etc. Well worth going.

Definitely get yourself to a running shop where you can try the trainers out on the treadmill. What one person loves, another hates. I was on the treadmill with 2 different trainers on - great way to choose between them.

Thanks everyone Smile

What kind of price range are we talking about?? I'm just thinking it would be best to get cheaper ones first to make sure it's all for me (I've never taken up running before, I do love the gym but more bikes etc) . I don't really want to be paying over £50+ if I wont use them much (although I do intend to iyswim)

I just paid £108 for my new brooks this week.

You should go to a running shop and try different ones on a treadmill. Be careful of too much cushioning, it can cause you other problems. I run with vibram five fingers, which is barefoot running. If I run with anything other than barefoot or neutral shoes then I get injuries (shin splints, IT band). You may not find this to be the case with you, but you’ll only find out if you try out different shoes and see how you react to them.

I am constantly stalking the Brooks sale.

I buy 3 pairs, the same colour and style every time.

Mix them up and wear them evenly. That way you never have a “lucky pair” that you stress over if they get worn out. You have one to wear, one to get knackered out and one drying out after 26.2 in pouring rain! 😂

My running shoes that I did c25k in were adidas, £40, they were a half price bargain. The first few weeks are run walk run walk, you don't need anything flash to start with. When I got to week 5 or 6 I went to a sports s shop, but what they offered me didn't fit as well as my own. I intend to splash out on a better pair, go somewhere with a big selection and try on lots, but only now that I know I intend to keep it up.

I run in these and really recommend them.

You can always get old season shoes which are cheaper. They wont be in the shops but write down that brand and 'model' of the ones you like and find them online.

I got my gait done years ago. Bought mizuno wave inspires as a result. They were over £100. They bring out a new version of them each year so now I just buy last season's versions for 50 quid or so when I need to replace them.
