Help! 30-day shred/calf pain

About 8/9 years ago I pulled a muscle in my left leg (popping noise was v disturbing). I was doing the shred a couple of years ago and about 5 days in the same thing happened.

I'm trying the shred again now (frequently but not every day) and despite making sure I'm in a warm room and do lots of extra stretching at the end I've now got the warning pain in my calf. I got a massage about 2 weeks ago that wasn't a sports one but was deep tissue and she worked on the tightness of my calves then, and because my other knee was bothering me I actually didn't do anything for 4 days this week but got towards the end of the shred this morning and had to stop doing butt kicks cause I could feel my calf tighten right up.

Any suggestions as to what I do now? I really want to keep going with the Shred cause I've lost about 3stone in the past year and while hill-walking (my normal exercise) is great it doesn't help with my arms/stomach.

Can I maybe add that I really don't want to switch to classes cause of cost/my job is really unpredictable hours/I'm an anti-social besom...

I'm not in a position to advice in your calf pain but there are other JM workouts which focus on arms and abs. For example No more trouble zones. It's longer than Shred (7 circuits instead of three) but you can do a few at a time if you don't have a full hour free. The circuits are called things like 'shoulders and abs' so you can decide which muscles to focus on and not put any strain on your calf muscle. Sounds like your hill walking will provide you with plenty of leg exercise!

Also JM says in one workout that if you need to do cardio but you have leg problems, to do punches. (Like in L1 of the Shred.)

Take care and don't take any risks.

Go and see a physio!! Otherwise you risk it happening again or worse, aggravating something else which might need to compensate for the weaker muscle.
