Couch to 5k - will I actually die.

I am 3 runs in and, by christ, I think it might kill me. I am 50, at least 3 stone over weight and do no other exercise than dog walking. The pain in my right hip after run one actually woke me in the night and the colour of my face would make small children cry. There’s no way I am ready to move on; should I just repeat week one? I tell you, if Michael Johnson appeared in my living room right now, I’d kick him directly in the fork of his trousers.

..yes I didn’t realise til I joined a club I’d been going too fast. I’d say the pose running technique is a bit better though as it emphasises putting your body weight forward slightly, kind of like controlled falling, which makes running flow a bit easier and makes sure you travel forwards rather than bouncing vertically.

Honestly I thought I had flu when I first started 'running' in my late 40's, at least 4 stone overweight..! I ached soooo much - felt awful. I eventually finished couch to 5K and my greatest achievement was doing a 10K a couple of years ago. That did really nearly finish me off. 2,000 people running in it and I came 11th from last Grin.

I don't run any more - hip, knee and foot problems, but I kind of miss it in a really sadistic kind of way... Keep going!

I've taken up swimming now which is much easier on the joints and at least I feel I'm trying to do something. I'm as slow swimming as I was running Blush but every little helps!

Yes, leaning forward too. I explained badly, I think. I do lean forward when running. I watched a few other technique clips on YouTube which seemed to concur. The pose reminds me of the body position skiing which, again, I hated until I was rigorously coached in technique. Then loved. I should've known, I am not a natural sportsperson and need to pay attention to technique!
