Training for 5k while breastfeeding

I have signed up to do race for life for my mil who has been plagued by cancer for 6 years now. Its 8 weeks until the run. I have a just turned 1 year old. I am reasonably fit I can walk fastish for miles but am going to start a training plan for the running bit!
My dd still has quite a lot of milk feeds as she only takes small amounts of solid food, this will likely change soon but in the meantime I plan to eat much healthier and exercise more. Does anyone know if this will affect the quantity or quality of my milk?
Any advice welcome!

I did C25k when DS was 6 months. I was his only source of milk. It makes no difference to milk quality.

I recommend running just after a feed. Engorgement and running are not fun.

Make sure you're well bra-ed up. I double bra-ed to help as I was much larger than usual.

Not at all, I ran loads whilst breast feeding, including doing a half marathon race. I'm a morning runner but did find it uncomfortable running first thing in the morning once they'd started sleeping through. I use to wait til they'd had a good feed from both sides and then go out.

Definately double sports bra.
I foolishly thought my boobs had gone down when I started running at 3 months. Wrong. I felt like dolly Parton Blush.
Went back with two sports bras next time.

I did the London marathon when my daughter was 8m old, I just timed runs around naps and made sure she had a good feed before I went and as soon as I got back. There is some thinking that a lot of exercise can affect the taste of your milk but she never seemed bothered, even after a sweaty 26.2 miles she was happy enough!

And make sure you drink loads of water - running and breastfeeding can really dry you out!

It won’t affect your milk but you will still have all the relaxin whizzing round your body from pregancy (it usually goes after about 9months but can last longer with breastfeeding mums) so please warm up and cool down properly and don’t do what I did and end up so injured I was out the game for two years.

Good luck xx
