Best running bra for massive norks

OrchidInTheSun · 01/05/2018 19:41

I have recently started running again and my old Enell is a bit on the small side Blush

Rather than just going out and buying a new bigger one, I thought I'd check with the MN running massive for recommendations. FWIW Ive got 36DD boobs. I need serious scaffolding

I swear by my panache wired sports bra. It keeps my 30F in place and is really comfortable. It’s quite small in the back so might need to size up.

keiratwiceknightly · 01/05/2018 19:50

I like Freya wired sports bras. I'm on my second. Just run 5k in 31min so it's doing ok. And my tits are massive - 30j

Shock absorber sports bras are amazing and I see they’ve just brought out funky new colours.
I find them true to size also.

Laurel543 · 01/05/2018 22:28

Second vote for Freya underwriter sports bras.
This one is utterly amazing and is on sale in Debenhams at the mo. https://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod10701110001150010710460?brand=Freya&cat1=Lingerie&cat2=Bras&CMP=SSHH75833218341341669774452797761894&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhpuGjbfl2gIVtBXTCh3lnQ9YEAQYAiABEgIMwfDBwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I am 32FF and have tried LOADS of different brands and styles. The vast majority are compression types that may hold you steady but they also smush you up, give a really unflattering shape and can be too tight to breathe in properly.

I find the encapsulation type ones are generally better but most don’t give enough coverage for bigger boobs and you get an annoying and ugly little bit of jiggle above the cups, which really shows under thin sports tops.

I have tried a few different Shock Absorbers and they are always cut that little bit too low. So even in the correct size, some breast tissue sits above the cup and moves about when you run/exercise.

The Freya ones hold everything firmly with no bulge or bounce at all and give a fab, uplifted and separated shape.

Panache underwired sports bras all the way. I can't stand racer backs and the panache is so supportive

Pebblespony · 01/05/2018 22:30

Shock absorber fan here. Otherwise I'd give myself black eyes while running.

Mrsramsayscat · 01/05/2018 22:31

Definitely the Freya

sw2102 · 01/05/2018 22:35

Tescos high impact one works for me and a lot cheaper than most sports bras for larger busts. Not underwired though.

CatsGoPurrrr · 02/05/2018 07:17

Shock absorber for me too. A bit pricy, but lasts and does what it says it Will do.

AnguaResurgam · 02/05/2018 07:19

Panache is good - look for last year's colours being sold off online at a discount - wired and comfy (36G)

AuntieStella · 02/05/2018 07:21

I found Shock Absorber sizing a bit weird, so buy where you can try on or from somewhere with good returns policy.. But fab bras - I have two styles (one running, one general sport) and think they're great.

OrchidInTheSun · 02/05/2018 07:26

Thanks for the recommendations all! Will try a few on and see how I get on

M&s do a great one. Underwired , grey.

MNscum · 02/05/2018 07:35

this one

Luglio · 02/05/2018 07:39

Panache. But as a side note, are you sure you're a 36 DD? That's hardly 'massive norks' (34F here and not at all chesty to the average observer)

JackieReacher · 02/05/2018 07:42

M&s have a couple of really good ones. They are huge and won't win prizes for prettiness but they also don't give a roll of uni-boob and are relatively cheap. I have one soft racer back hung hat zips down the front and a grey underworld/ moulded cup monster that keep my E's grounded in a hurricane (running / horse riding)

FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends · 02/05/2018 07:43

There are loads of decent ones at that size. Try being a J cup, then your options start getting really limited Grin

OrchidInTheSun · 02/05/2018 08:00

I think so - I did the intervention thing @Luglio but will measure again :)

I think because I'm very short, they look bigger than they really are Fosters!

Orchid I get where you are coming from- I'm a 32DD but I struggle with a lot of sports bras not providing full shock absorption. I think my boobs may just be really bouncy! M&S sports bras, for example, have never worked for me.

I have three from Nike which I swear by, but looking at their website, I think they may have discontinued Sad

AwfulSomething · 04/05/2018 15:11

The best tip I ever got was to double up sports bras! I double up different style ones, works for me.

Todayissunny · 04/05/2018 15:43

Another fan of shock absorbers here.

DidoAndHerLament · 04/05/2018 15:48

Another doubling-up fan here. I'm 32H and wear the Panache with a smoosh-together M&S. They make me feel really secure and not at all bouncy :)
