That's me !

Will is be ok ? Will I be the laughing stock ?

Want to get back into fitness after having a year out after knee issues then an op. Subsequently weight has piled on too.

Don't want to do impact stuff re my knee hence no running anymore.

At my age weight training is important but going to the gym and doing it on my own is intimidating and boring.

I'm no where as fit and supple as I was. So need help and inspiration

Try spin!

Im admittedly not the biggest fan of cross fit for teaching weight lifting. However if you try and enjoy go for it. Everybody starts as a beginner.

Op, I’m 60 with a dodgy knee and neck. I’m also overweight. I love Crossfit and was in training for the 2018 open (scaled masters) till a non Crossfit related injury a few months ago meant an end to my Crossfit days. I can’t tell you how sad I was about it. It was worse than the actual injury caused by a fall on holiday.

I’d say go for it. I used to leave the box feeling on top of the world. People are so friendly and encouraging. But not just that - the excercise are great. Flip an enormous truck tire as many times as you can? Bring it on!!!!!

I only saw your thread because I came in to see if there’s anyone training for a Spartan Race. It’s what I’m hoping to do by the end of year. I can still work out but I do personal training now because to be quite honest if I can’t do Crossfit I’m not interested in going near another gym. I happy at home with my PT who’s really enjoying the challenge of getting me ready for a Spartan Race as well as get healthy.

I think you should get your gym stuff together and get down to a Box. The people there will love it that your giving it a go.

Sorry OP, just to say lifting weights can cause your knees to swell so it would be up to you to decide if CrossFit’ aggravates your dodgy bits.

Thank you all.

I have started doing spin and which is fine but want to get back into something like circuit training which I though CrossFit might fit the bill.

I've been given the all clear to go back to exercise after my knee op but now lack confidence.

Il see if the local CrossFit do a taster session and go from there.

I have found that a good yoga class - one where the instructor will monitor what you can do following an injury- has been a good way back into exercise. Lunges, squats and a lot of standing on one leg has cured my collapsing ankle and re-juvenated my knees, which were not injured but rather underused. I'm now doing spin classes, weight lifting (the yoga really helps with that) and a Saturday bootcamp session. Weights has been a real revelation, it just improves my mood and confidence no end.
