Runners - how do you use music bpm to pace...?

Just getting started with running and trying to shift up from 5k to 10k, but I set off too fast and run out of steam at about 6k. Anyone got an app or anything that can make a playlist of music at the right bpm to help me pace myself?
I've got Spotify but my playlist is all over the place in bpm and mostly waaaay too fast!

I think Spotify have a run app that does this, also jog fm. I don't use them so don't know if they are any good. You can also get metronome apps you can set to a certain cadence, but music is probably more fun! I'm sure there is an app that speeds up or slows down music to your chosen cadence too.

The C25k+ nhs podcasts for speed and stamina are good to make the jump from 5-10k they include music which you run to the beat.

RockMyRun is an app that you can chose different bpm playlists on. It's free for the basic app, which is all I have and use.

Another question about bpm - how do I know what bpm I run? On the treadmill I usually run at about 9kmph - what does that translate to?

I'm not sure how to work it out 😄 - I think you just need to run at a certain number of bpm, and see how fast that is for you.

My Garmin FR 35 tells me via the Garmin app I think.

I tried 160bpm today, seemed ok for the most part.

There’s a running music thread here in the Exercise section somewhere about 3-4mths back which had some recommendations.

I find the 150 bpm sections of the C25k+ podcasts to be pleasantly joggy. The fastest they go up to is 165 bpm.

Although the music on the NHS podcasts is a bit naff, it does help with pacing.
