Kettlebells at home

I've cancelled my gym membership recently as I can't get there in time for the classes I'm most interested in (bodypump / spin mainly). I can cram in 30mins either first thing or once DD is in bed at night. Thinking that a kettlebell workout will be effective? Anyone else do this at home as opposed to a class?

Yep, love my kettlebells! Fitness Blender have a few good KB-based workouts, worth a try. I love them as they give really good cues on form and technique.

Tiredemma · 10/03/2018 17:40

Are they very expensive to buy?

I use kettle bells at home. Think they cost around £20.

I've got one 8kg kettlebell at home which I sometimes use for Fitness Blender videos (I also have dumbbells in 3 different weights). Mine was a gift (!), can't remember how much it cost, but as with everything, I think there's a variety of prices. Oh Ok I just looked mine up - Jordan Fitness and approx £25.

Hello, I love kettlebell training, been doing it since the new year and toned up loads. I do 5/6 times a week for about 30 mins each time. I follow bodyfit by Amy on YouTube,it's brill. I actually got my kettlebells from Aldi. Started with a 6kg but now using an 8kg.xx

If you already have weights at home, they had a little bucket type contraption in Tiger to turn weights into a kettlebell.

I assume in theory you could just put tins or something in to the correct weight. Might be worth a go to see if you enjoy doing it at home. Personally I prefer to be in the gym because I like to be able to see my position more clearly than I can at home.

I went to a few kettbell classes to get a feel for them and then like you op, I cancelled my gym membership and did videos at home. Body fit by Amy on YouTube is really really good, she gives lots of modifications and she is very good on safety and injury prevention. Just build up gradually and don't overdo it- i know loads of people with injuries from kettlebell exercises.

I agree with Pinklady Bodyfit by Amy is really good, various workouts to suit time available. I use 8kg mostly and it really works.

DH & i did our first kettlebell class last night & loved it. Maybe see if there's a class locally to get some ideas then go for it at home?

Mumathon · 18/03/2018 15:30

DP & I have been doing kettlebells at home since New Year & really enjoy it. We tend to do them every night using workouts on YouTube, mainly Fitness Blender ones. We usually do between 15-30 mins each night and have really noticed a difference. I started with a 5kg, now use a 10kg and am considering moving up soon.

IpanemaChica · 18/03/2018 15:59

I’ve just ordered a 8kg one, previously had a 4 and 6kg, plus the Jillian Michaels Kettlebell dvd as it was only £5 something.
