Someone stop me from talking myself out of going swimming tomorrow

Just that really. I used to love swimming, haven’t been for ages due to work, lack of childcare and it’s been winter. But I’m putting on weight, feel really sluggish and generally just feel blah. Anyway I’ve made a deal with myself to do a half hour swim tomorrow lunch time but I’m already talking myself out of it. I’ll use my work lunch break but I’m thinking I’ll be too knackered to do some pre planned presentation in the afternoon but I really need to do some exercise, and swimming is my go to exercise. I hate the gym btw. I need some motivation, I’m just shit at self motivating Sad

You will feel better afterwards. Just treat it like another appointment on your list to do tomorrow.

I went for a (v slow) run after work. I now feel smug, which is good.

Crab that’s exactly what I need to do. It’s an appointment, I’m going to put it in my diary now “12pm SWIMMING” Smile

It won't knacker you. Incredibly good at refreshing you mentally, instead.

Says the woman who is going for a 6:45am swim soon. I have a couple catered meals today, so want to a chance to have any appetite for them!

Just try to imagine how you'll feel come the evening when you've both been swimming and delivered your presentation.

You'll be pleased with yourself not only for actually doing some exercise but also for having mustered the willpower to do so. You'll be way more motivated to do it again next time, regardless of what's happening in the afternoon.

Now imagine it's the evening and you didn't do it? How do you feel? Angry with yourself and probably a bit grumpy with others as well...

You won't be knackered afterwards, you'll be refreshed. It'll give your brain a break from work too.

Swimming is amazing exercise and you can take it as fast or slow as you like. You’ll feel great afterwards!

We are doing a swimathon at the moment, 22 miles over 12 weeks. Due to injury I can’t manage more than about 40 lengths at a time, so have to go several times a week. I often don’t really feel like it beforehand, but always feel glad I did after!
It’s such good exercise and a good “mindfulness” activity too; you will feel so much better if you go!

Thank you people of Mumsnet for the kick up the arse, I feel so good after my swim.

Like I said I am worst self motivator.
