I've decided it is today- more because I would have to walk the last bit (pick kids up from school towards the end of run) and can't carry extra layers to put on ....is there an official rule with it? I know the last snowy week I couldn't go cos of icy paths but wondering if there is a temperature it's advised to not run outside at?

Knobby tyres mean great cycling to be had out there! Look for the Cycling UK pictures (Facebook & twitter).

Not good cycling in slicks, fair enough.

I made it out for a run, 9 miles
bit tough when running into the wind but overall I enjoyed it :o

I will definitely take something to cover my mouth For my run tomorrow as have read something about breathing in the cold air isn't great but I'll be back out running (slow jogging) tomorrow !

9 miles is great!! I wish I had got out more but have been out 1-5 hrs each day so not doing bad. Will try to go to work tomorrow which means 45 minute run, too.

My running club cancelled tonight's run due to the weather - very windy & cold and snowing, but not that much on the ground.

I’ve just returned from working in a Nordic country where day time temperatures were minus 21. They all carried on running, cycling, pushing prams and swimming (outdoors!!!). I was amazed but realised that’s normal life out there. So carry on running!

Whenever I visit my family in Northern Sweden there's always lots of runners out in below -20c! I went out yesterday morning, I was a bit cold my leggings and long sleeve running zip up wasn't quite cutting it!

I won't run on ice or slipperly such, but will run in very low temperatures on reasonable surfaces. I was out today (with windchill -7) and have run in colder.

Don't go too far from civilisation and make sure someone knows where you're going. If you do slip and trip, you will get unpleasantly cold quite quickly (possibly even dangerously cold in weeks such as this)

when it's snowy, I run in trail shoes - does anyone else?

I saw someone out for a run in the snow today. She was running on the road (alongside the traffic) because the pavement was icy.

That was bloody stupid taking dedication to running a little too far.

I don't run when it's icy, I had a knee injury a few years ago after tripping and falling so I'm cautious about doing the same thing.

Cold doesn't usually stop me but I'm drawing the line at below freezing and 20 mph wind. Looks like the temperature might just creep up to 0/1c tomorrow afternoon so I might layer up and try a quick 5 mile.
