Gym routines in pregnancy

Hello,

Does anyone have a copy or some recommendations for gym routines that are safe in pregnancy but will also make me work.

I'm in the second trimester (17 weeks) and comfortably used to lifting weights so it wouldn't be a surprise to my body but I let it lag too much in the first so it's time to get back to it!

Current plan is 3 light cardio sessions in a morning before work (uphill walk, swimming, stepper, biking) and then I want to do 2-3 resistance sessions a week but I'm just not sure what to do now!

I would love a 'plan' to follow but can't see anything online. Or just exercises that you did in pregnancy would be great!

Thanks!

Also, where do I find maternity gym kit that doesn't cost an absolute fortune?!

Just use normal stuff in bigger sizes! Maternity exercise clothing is a rip off (and pretty rank). A lot of exercise clothing is super stretchy anyway so will keep fitting. I did have to borrow some of my partner's tops for the last few months.

PS - I got Tara Lee's Pre Natal yoga which I did most days. I'm sure it helped keep me supple and the aches and pains at bay.

Other than that I just carried on as normal. Shed loads of cycling (on the road - I just adapted my bike as my bump grew) at a variety of intensities, which included time trials (so flat out effort). Running until 5 or 6 months when it got too uncomfortable. I added in loads of walking. I carried on with my normal strength training but modified the core work. This book was quite handy for specific core work: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/1934030961/ref=pd_aw_sim_14_3?psc=1&dpPl=1&dpID=51gryza6P7L&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&refRID=JHQ3H18MTMK1DHHS17XK

Just listen to your body and if it physically hurts (bad pain), stop.

Don't forget to militantly do your pelvic floor exercises - download the NHS Squeezy app. I think those are the most important exercises of all!
