Husband likes to run. He’s done half and full marathons, and goes to his running club every week as well as solo runs.
He’s got a good selection of kit now, so don’t think I can’t buy him any of that. Am wondering if a running magazine subscription or a running book would be good pressie? Any recommendations appreciated, I know nothing about this topic!

Runner’s world subscription
Bolt on dvd
Running coffee table books with amazing pictures
Subscription to a set of races next year

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 21/12/2017 12:06

Phil Hewitt or Mimi Anderson’s books

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 21/12/2017 12:07

Barkley marathons dvd

Thanks Marmalade! Do you get runners world? Is it good? I laughed in WHSmith when I saw there were separate men’s and women’s running magazines too.

I get both Blush Fairly good articles and always good up to date kit lists

Less practical but thought provoking and beautifully written: Footnotes: or how running makes us human

timshortfforthalia · 21/12/2017 16:36

Runners world is awful, really really bad.

Men's Running is better, but tbh it's amazing

Best books: born to run, running with the Kenyans, feet in the clouds, kings of the road.

The Berkley marathon film mentioned by pp is good. Another running documentary worth getting is unbreakable: story of the western states.

timshortfforthalia · 21/12/2017 16:40

Tbh honest it's not amazing that should have said

Dairymilkmuncher · 21/12/2017 16:43

Do you know he likes to read about running?

My Dp went through a running and fitness phase but never touched the men's fitness subscription I got him and never seen him read anything about it.

If he's got everything he could possible need clothes wise maybe a trip somewhere new to run or headphones, Spotify for running music or Fitbit type present

linspins · 21/12/2017 22:10

Good point dairymilkmuncher, haven’t ever seen him read running things...but possibly not had the opportunity. He doesn’t like music while he runs, and he’s got a special watch that tracks him...he’s flipping impossible to buy for!

DH isn't a reader but enjoyed Vassos Alexander's book

Theonlyoneiknow · 22/12/2017 08:31

Feet in the clouds is a good read

givemushypeasachance · 22/12/2017 15:43

Does he run at night or early morning when it's dark, if so has he got a good range of hi viz accessories? You can get all sorts from arm lights to shoe lights to hi viz buffs or gloves or entire outfits. And you can never be too seen...

Elsewhere MN jury decided men tend to not be bothered about surprise presents and basically want a new or better version of something they already have and like. So there's always that option!

Dairymilkmuncher · 22/12/2017 15:52

Hope you got something sorted, not long now.

I've got with tickets to a show, an amp, a cable and a shirt

Capelin · 22/12/2017 15:57

Born to run by Christopher McDougall is great

mirage937 · 22/12/2017 23:55

Does he use apps to track his runs ? A df loves run round Europe basically it links your miles to different destinations in Europe e.g. one month you run from London to Amsterdam, it shows you how far your mileage really could get you, quite a good concept really her DH got her a year subscription thing to it for her birthday, I'm not sure on price though I just know she loves it

CoteDAzur · 22/12/2017 23:56

I second Born To Run. It's a great book.
