Want to lose some weight off my tummy

Ok so I know I need to eat less and do more exercise but it's tricky. I'm not massive, slimmish but I've put weight on and my belly just feels huge (not pregnant).
I eat a lot of sugar and carbs. Fitting in exercise is difficult too. I don't enjoy running. I like swimming and dancing but don't want to be out at 8pm doing it. What do others do?

I lift weights.

Try to cut down on sugar. Eat more protein to keep your blood sugar stable. And lift weights: squats, bench press, etc. As heavy as you can for 6-10 reps.

You can't outrun a bad diet. But if you improve your diet and build muscle, it may have a surprising effect on your belly fat.

Me too! I am the same. Realised yesterday that my jeans felt really uncomfortable.

I had been really good at exercising and did see a difference in my tummy. Had got into a great routine of snatching half an hour every 3 times a week to run or was doing thirty day shred, HIIT and things like Just suggested. I'll always be apple shaped but definitely looked better.

Unfortunately I hate exercise and have used the school summer holidays as an excuse to do none. I'm still naturally slim but have seen a real difference on my tummy, not for the better Grin.

I am similar. I have cut right down on sugar and carbs but still allow myself sweet tea which i look forward to (2 cups a day). I feel so much better and I know I could cut down even more. I saw a difference after a week.

Reg exercise I bought a mini trampoline so I can use this whenever I want to indoors :)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/08/2017 10:25

You saw a difference after a week Shock Moosical. How much did you cut down? I love carbs. Giving myself two more weeks to slob out then must get back on it when the kids go back to school.

My pelvic floor wouldn't manage a mini trampoline Sad.

I cut out almost all fizzy drinks, sweets and treats, also heavy meals meaning carbs, but i do have mashed potato occasionally. Calorie intake 1000-1200 a day. (but 2000 on Saturdays to allow for a sweet treat or even 2 ;-) ).

I love carbs too, particularly pasta, and i have carbs occasionally, certainly no bread ever now, tbh i don't miss it.

I noticed the difference after a week because my bloating has cut right down, I have more energy and TMI i'm more regular.

Yep that's what I did, gave myself till X date then went cold turkey, it was hard at first, but then even after that first hard week, you start turning your nose up at the 'wrong' foods.

I have allowed myself treats though. If you are feeling a bit down and think 'oh f*ck it' yes have that chocolate biscuit, but just one, don't lie to yourself :) Whatever you want to achieve, keep reminding yourself of that.

Sorry about your pelvic floor, are you doing exercises to help?

Compromise and do the math. Ok so for example today I'm feeling really dehydrated and I know I recover quickly with fruit drinks (I struggle so much with water) so I've almost finished a 750ml bottle of innocent smoothie :P (it was on offer). That's 402 calories. Breakfast was 256 (porridge). I know dinner will be 97 calories (Asda fresh chicken noodle soup).

Leaves me with 445 calories for lunch/a snack, which is usually a salad with a protein amounting to around 250 calories.

I have felt hungry in the evenings sometimes but i force water down myself and that usually solves the problem. Or just have a biscuit and sweet tea (80 cals for me).

Normally (haha) instead of the smoothie i'll have fruit. Blackberries are 1 cal each etc.

Thanks Moosical, brilliant detailed reply Smile. Re. pelvic floor, it's not horrendous and I am pretty good at doing the exercises now but trampolining is a no unfortunately, although I can run.

Don't want to lose much weight, just the tummy, so need to look at what I can replace the sugar with.

JustGettingStarted · 24/08/2017 15:16

You can't choose which fat you lose. It's last on, first off.

For me to lose my belly, my breasts had to shrink.

ChocoholicsAnonymous · 24/08/2017 17:24

That's just it, I can't have just one biscuit. I'm terrible, no will power. It's a bit of a sugar addiction. I get interrupted sleep and life with the kids leads me to sugar. Not good.

Less sugar and carbs and hula hooping with weighted hoop.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/08/2017 17:34

Noooo Just, I want to believe I can change from apple to hourglass!

Might look into these weighted hula hoops - have seen them mentioned a few times now.

JustGettingStarted · 24/08/2017 21:40

As an apple, I feel your pain!

Loopytiles · 25/08/2017 05:38

First check to make sure that diastasis recti isn't a factor!

I have this body issue and do loads of exercise, still have a lot of tummy fat, but my diet is bad and read that it's 80% diet.
