Cramp in feet

Hiya, I've just started on the treadmill at home after a long time of being inactive.
I've gone for walks near where I live but haven't jogged/run anywhere.
I'm walking and then jogging in intervals on the treadmill. I'm doing ok but find I get cramp in my feet. I'm wearing running trainers. I get the same when I do aerobics.
I wonder if this has anything to do with being flat footed? Thanks.

Where are you cramping? Toes? Arch?

Cramp for me, always toes:

  1. Lots of impact activity. I am very active but still get the odd bout of cramp if I've been pushing.
  1. Maybe trainers that aren't optimised. I've had them cause pain before, but not what I'd call "cramp". Have you bought trainers specifically for your arch issues? If not, do so. It will be the best purchase you make.
  1. Not enough fluid/electrolytes. I'm not a massive water drinker, but on run days, I really make the effort throughout the day to keep hydrated.

Thank you for your reply :)

It's usually in my arch, the sole of my feet.

I haven't got specific running shoes for my arch as have never worn them before. The trainers I have are supposed to be memory foam- moulding to the shape of your feet.
I do try and drink more when running but will make the effort to drink more in case that is the issue.
I will also research other trainers too!

Thanks.

Have a look for shoes that offer "stability control/motion support/etc". They are often a little heavier and more supportive than the lighter-than-air types but it's what you need.

Will do. Thanks for your advice :)
