Running knicker recommendations?

SoPassRemarkable · 10/08/2017 20:28

Am now running 10k and Primark big pants/fitted boxer short type size are chafing below my arse cheeks.

A friend recommended Runderwear but I'm a size 18/20 and there biggest size is 16/18 and reviews say they come up small with a size 12 person saying the Large size was too tight for her, so don't even think XL would be big enough for me.

Any other ideas?

Could you go without?

Otherwise, try Sloggi.

SoPassRemarkable · 11/08/2017 09:52

Running without is an option I hadn't really thought about, can try it! Thanks.

Opened the post to recommend sloggi too - the laser cut ones, without seams at the bottom

For everything other than obstacle races (or very wet weather) I just wear normal cotton high leg pants. I have got some microfibre pants without a cotton gusset as I discovered at my first obstacle race that wet cotton is very unpleasant.

Short types do tend to migrate worse than high legs I find.

Just got back from a 10k wearing no knickers Blush
It's so much better - no rubbing at all!

I wear some I bought from Hema, you just need something without seams if possible and not cotton. I think M&S do some too

iMatter · 11/08/2017 16:45

I never wear knickers when I'm running, cycling, HIIT training etc.

Pointless extra layer.

SoPassRemarkable · 11/08/2017 17:50

Where I've chafed is where the knicker leg hole ended.....so I'm not sure if seamless ones would help because it wasn't a seam which chafed but where the knickers finished.

Anyway have ordered a pair of sloggis to try as am nervous about being in running tights with no knickers in case they are a bit see through and I haven't noticed, or if the seam in the leggings splits!

I run without, have done for years, but before that used a cheaply m&s thong.

imip · 11/08/2017 17:52

I make dh check when I bend over that nothing can be seen Blush

This cream before a run will help too:

That anti chafing cream looks good, ordered some. Thanks. Am still whimpering today with arse pain when walking!

It's great and lasts for ages.

I run without and find it much more comfy. So long as you've got proper running tights/shorts it's fine.

rubybleu · 15/08/2017 11:31

I ran London marathon (in Sloggi double comfort Tai briefs. They are really soft and more importantly stay in place - I have a round bum and nearly all briefs insist on migrating upwards!

Leilaniii · 15/08/2017 11:34

Wow, lucky you not having to wear knickers whilst running. I have to wear an incontinence pad due to my weak pelvic floor after having children.

BikeRunSki · 15/08/2017 11:35

I cycle commando, but prefer knickers to run in. I wear these but M/L is only 14/16 at most.

BikeRunSki · 15/08/2017 11:36

Although I don't wear knickers when I am wearing running shorts with built in pants.
