Should i buy a waist trainer?

I have that separated abdominal muscle thing from my last pregnancy which was seven years ago. I'm slim, fit and active but still have a little pouchy belly. The finger gap is still about 3 fingers and my belly cones out if I do ab exercises. I've read about the MuTu system and Tupler technique but they seem expensive and I don't know what to look for on You Tube that won't cause more problems.

I really want to fix this and make my core stronger without making the gap bigger. Would a waist trainer help with this or just be an uncomfortable thing to wear for no good reason.

The only other person I know who had this had to have surgery which I don't want. Has anyone used a waist trainer to help with this issue?

I had this and used a waist trainer everyday and it made a huge difference I wore it to the gym too. I also wore it under my clothes and it gave me heaps of confidence. Wish I'd got it sooner after the birth!

Really Salt? That sounds positive. I worry that seven years is too late but I only recently realised what the problem actually is and not just that I needed to lose fat. I thought it was funny that my tummy bulges in a point when I do a crunch etc but no one had ever mentioned the separating abs thing in any of my pregnancies.

I'm just sort of hoping that if the muscles are pushed closed by a corset that they might heal and it would at least support my core when I'm exercising

I'd spend the waist trainer money on an appointment with a physio. They'll be able to assess your separation and prescribe you a specific set of targeted, safe exercises to support your recovery.

I used waist and hip binders straight after the birth as I felt my hips were loose and my core was so weak I was finding it hard to move properly. Both worked amazingly well for me, I am hoping to get another proper waist trainer (mine were specifically for post partum) as I have started to not fit into my clothes again now that dd has stopped breastfeeding so much and I'm still eating too much cake

Yes worked really well. Only thing is I'd say be careful doing sit ups/crunches as I origionally did physio and he told me it pulls the muscles further apart. Tried my excersies from them for a few months and it made no difference but the waist trainer really did. Now prego again and really miss it! Look into the excerises though, do you get back pain? My separated muscles caused a lot of back pain which was how it got noticed, waist trainer also helped immensely with that but when I took it off in the evenings the pain was back. Provided me relief though!
