every time I do I get terrible back pain n end up at the oestopath

It's middle back between my shoulder blades and sometimes base of my neck

I used to run n I walk swim or cycle every day but I get through wk1 of c2k n I can't flipping move

I wondered if it might be boobs has anyone else has that ? I'm 32G and I've got a proper running bra now but am afraid to get going again

Any advice or anyone has the same thing?

I used to get that pain but after walking long distances rather than running (5 miles or so) I was also quite round shouldered. Pilates fixed it for me - took a little while but it's great or your core and posture.

Thanks nbee!

I've never tried Pilates but there's a studio nearby I'll check it out (or YouTube maybe to start so I don't look like an idiot)

Are you wearing decent running shoes?

Sounds like maybe your shoulders rise up, or hunch as you run?
It's putting me in mind of tension - lots of tension in your shoulders.

I second Pilates as a way of trying to even out that kind of tension, it's definitely made me a better runner. Posture, strong core, holding my stomach muscles to protect my back especially as I run downhill.

I wanna say "Then don't run". There are other sports to enjoy.

I have just started running and am finding the exact same thing. I have started the c25k app thing and this morning and last night I could barely move due to pain in my shoulders and neck! Dunno whether to keep going with it or quit and just do brisk walking! Shock

I am also large of boobage - 32g and wonder if this isn't helping. Hmm

32hh here. No back pain.
Plenty of pilates, keep upright while running (not bent over), shoulders down, elbows at right angles.

It's really common to inadvertently hunch your shoulders when running.

Take it steady and pay attention to your neck/shoulders - shrug them a few times when running and take some deep breaths.

Also remember to circle your arms and stretch out your shoulders after you've run.
