I recently started with a personal trainer. However I'm not impressed so far. When he is training me he walks away into his office while I'm doing the Hiit exercises. He never critiques my technique. In my first week he spent some of the time with me setting up for his class afterwards. He even exercises me for 45 mins but I'm supposed to get an hour. While I can't physically do more he could be talking to me afterwards. He uses that time to be ready for his next class. I can't train this week and I told him this last week, we discussed by text fitting me in earlier in the week (which he couldn't do - which is fine) but then he just text to ask if we're training tomorrow. He'd clearly forgotten.

He knows his stuff and options are limited around here but he seems distracted and not organised. I've got 3 more sessions paid for but after that I'm not sure I'll stay. Is this normal for a PT?

No, he sounds like one of those PTs who's only interested in making money out of clients/classes rather than helping your fitness goals. He should be coaching you through the exercises, motivating you to get a bit more out of yourself and then finishing off your session with stretches (preferably assisted ones as these are more beneficial) so that you've had a whole body workout.

It's a shame you've paid in advance but he's really not worth paying for again, you won't see any benefit in your training with his attitude- you might as well pay to go to his class instead!

That's what I suspected. Thank you.

No, not at all. I've being seeing a PT for about three years, and will get picked up instantly on form when it drops. Very important, because when form is wrong, that's when you get injured.
