When exercising, how soon do you start to make new muscle?

For the last two weeks I have been following WW (and sticking to it religiously), and have been to the gym seven times (classes, weights, swimming).

Today I weigh exactly the same as I did two weeks ago, which is quite annoying.

Surely I have not started to create new, dense muscle already??

Give yourself 3 weeks, honestly it takes a while to start working. It does work.

Well I am pretty stubborn (and I am actually quite enjoying going to the gym!) so I am definitely going to keep it up, but I have to say I am quite disappointed that the weight is not dropping off!!

People always dismiss me when I say I don't lose weight when I do more exercise than just walking but its true for me. I was doing a lot of cycling once and following ww and didn't lose a lb. I did lose inches but the scales wouldn't shift. Same thing when I was doing circuit training at the gym and the 30 day shred. Now I've lost 6st just by sw and walking and really could do with exercising to tone up but I know the scales will stop and I'm not far from goal. I think when I get to goal then I'll start the exercising to tone up because then it doesn't matter what the scales say.

You won't build new muscle if you're dieting and doing a bit of cardio. To build new muscle you need to be body building and eating calorie excess.

If you are in calorie deficit you will lose weight. Be patient.

I did think it was a little u likely I'd be building muscle!

I will just keep on plodding on, surely sticking to WW combined with the calories burned through the exercising must mean something will happen soon!!

To build new muscle you need to be body building and eating calorie excess.

It's possible to just eat at maintenance and do a body recomp, whereby fat is replaced with muscle. It's a slow process. But at the beginning of my fitness journey I also saw recomping happening even while eating at a deficit for the first few weeks. It was of course just "noob gains" (i.e. the effect doesn't last long). It's pretty common though, and there might be a bit of that going on in OP's situation.

Ooh off to google body recomp, sounds good!!
