After Childbirth

I'm really wanting to get back into running after having my baby. I had a wonderful, vaginal birth three months ago with a small tear and a few stitches. I'm wondering how much womb, pelvic floor area discomfort or pain after exercise is normal and what to look out for to avoid damaging myself. I know they say avoid anything high impact but my jogs are more power walks at the moment until I build my fitness back up.

I started C25k when DS2 was 6 months. He'd been rather mean to me on his exit. My main issue was waiting for SPD to fuck off go away. By the time I could walk without limping and consider running, I didn't have any issues underneath, although my pelvic floor hasn't forgiven him entirely despite pelvic floor exercises.

I started running again at 5 weeks. Did lots of pelvic floor exercises and stopped immediately when I felt any pressure. Did really slow build up and first run was a very slow 3k. Now 4 months since delivery and no difference to pre dc. Prob running better tbh. Do not push yourself, if you're in pain just stop and try again after a rest day.

From my own experience, none, and if you're getting it then I'd avoid running until it "settles down" a bit. Also, remember that your joints are a bit looser so if you're getting joint pain, stop.

I ran after 6 weeks with DS and 8 months after DD. It seems like a massive "time out" at the time, but 4 years later, it was nothing in the scheme of things.
