Would you buy kids running shoes?

I am getting into running again for the first time in years - doing C25k and loving it. Not quite sure how much longer my tatty old trainers are going to do the job so have been looking at running shoes online. My feet are size 5 so I could fit into trainers which are labelled as girls shoes and save a bit of money. Is there much difference between adults and children's running shoes?

I have wondered this too?! I thought maybe they wouldn't come as far up on the ankle or something?

are you on sports direct?

MsColouring · 02/05/2016 20:12

I was looking at these from under armour

Have also looked at sports direct

Do you have a Nike outlet near you? I bought dd some nike airs for £18. The adult ones are pretty reasonable too if the kids shape were different

Oh yes. There is! I hadn't even thought about that - might go and have a look next weekend.

If you want shoes to run in, I would strongly suggest going to a specialist running shop where you can try them on, and get advice on which shoes are best for your gait and running style or transition to minimalist/barefoot running

I think it depends on your weight. If you are small built then I think they will be fine but there is apparently less cushioning in childrens trainers as they are generally lighter weight i was told when i asked the same question.

Thanks happy - that's what I was wondering, I am on the chubby side right now - trying to lose weight.

I wear kids running shoes all the time (I run in Nike frees, or the zoom ones if my shin splints are playing up). I love them. Haven't noticed any difference between them and the adults ones tbh, and they're loads cheaper!

I'm a shoe size 4 but go up a half size to allow for thick anti blister socks. I suppose the only thing is that they might not last as long as adult ones if they're designed to be grown out of? I've never noticed that myself though.

I never officially made it to adult sizes, but upsize for width anyway. When I have bought children's shoes, I find that they wear out quicker than adults because it's assumed you'll grow out of them. I'm fairly light by adult standards, although I'd be a heavy 9 year old which is the average age for my foot length!
