Do David Lloyd make it really difficult for you to leave?

My membership runs out in November. And although I think it's a lovely gym and I have no complaints about it, it's very expensive. I mostly do body pump and spin classes, which I could easily do at another local gym which is also nice, a bit smaller and a lot cheaper! And also I don't use the spa facilities at all.

The thing I'm concerned about though is that I've heard they make it difficult for you to leave. Is this true? Do you just have to write a letter telling them you wish to cancel?

Does anyone know why they don't value customer service? It seems an odd position for a company to have such a terrible reputation. The staff are so solidly and steadfastly unhelpful.

LOTS of companies do not value service - insurance companies, supermarkets, utilities etc etc

I had 2 lots of surgery and realised we weren't using it. So I gave 3 months notice and when the 3rd month was paid cancelled the direct debit. They do send me letters to come back every few months but I just ignore it.

Another aspect of cancelling David Lloyd Membership is that the letter of termination must be handed in at reception by the 25th of the month prior to the following 3 months notice of notice.
If you hand the letter in on the 26th they will demand 4 months of payment. Be warned!
