Glutes question

Hi,

I have hypermobility syndrome and have been deconditioned after pregnancy and thyroid issues. I am doing pilates and physio but wondered what cardio is best for glutes? Pre baby I played capoeira so lots of squatting etc, but not as easy to train now. Would cycling be good? I swim once a week. Again it's trying to fit around toddler, and I've considered getting a bike trailer for this reason.

I have to target glutes to help hip and lower back pain.

Cycling (esp on hills) is v good for your glutes. In your case, it would be really important to get a good bike fit, and to wear cleated shoes so that your legs track properly and use a balance of muscles.

would strength training not be the best best to strengthen the muscles and stabilise your hips?

Thanks for the info Smile

What do you mean by strength training? I have some physio from a sports physio, clams and pilates side exercises.

I really need some cardio, just wondering is cycling ok for building the glutes to support the hips more (motivation to go out on it!)

I used to cycle to work every day, but pre child.

Dead lifts with heavy weights will give you a good bum. Also exercises like glute bridges, squats and lunges.

Jillian Michaels' s DVD Killer Buns and Thighs also, but it is quite intense and might be difficult for you with your specific issues (? ).

I feel cycling in my legs but not particularly in my bottom.
