Just thought I would highlight this campaign for all those thinking about taking up exercise this Month.

This Girl Can

I started in Jan 2012 with running and from being totally unfit I ran a half marathon 9 months later, I did the Great North Run the following year and in 2014 I have taken up cycling and done a 60mile women sportive.

You don't need to be very fast or particularly good at what you do but it can make such a difference to just get out and do something.

I lost 2 1/2 stone in the first six months and it really has changed my life. I still have the stresses and strains that come with kids and working (albeit part time) but it is balanced by the hour or so when I think about nothing more than how quickly I can take my next breath which clears my head ready for the next challenge!

I think it's a brilliant campaign.

And we'll done to you for what you've achieved. :-)

I love this campaign and the ad is great. My story is similar to yours, took up running to lose baby weight and am currently training for a marathon this spring. Anything that encourages woman, and particularly young girls, to get out there and exercise is a great thing.

And well done on your achievements! Smile

And well done to you isittheweekend. I would love to do a marathon but had to cut back on running last year due to a problem with my foot. Just getting back into it this year so hoping to be able to consider a marathon next year.

I think it's important to get women to understand that once you start exercising the improvements can come quite quickly if just do little and often. I spent 40 years thinking my body was not cut out for running as I had never heard of c25k until I joined a club. By that point I could run for 40 mins. Had I known about it sooner I would have joined a club from the start and not worried about my lack of ability

I really like the campaign - I started trying to get properly fit aged 40 and having acquired a disability. Since then, I've run a couple of half marathons, done two sprint triathlons and have more planned!

I'm still a bit wobbly round the tum, I never have enough time to train, I'll never be the fastest and when I'm swimming people do a double take at my one arm freestyle. But I feel great, and my son thinks I'm wonderful Smile so thats all that counts!
