Would you all like to join me here?

OP posts:
Mayvis · 18/11/2014 07:25

Checking in.

Planning to do w6r1 later today.

DaftMaul · 18/11/2014 10:55

Thanks CruCru. I have linked this to the old thread.

Have a good run Mayvis.

Don't be disheartened, Spidey. We have mostly all taken steps back at some point. The important think is to keep going at it again.

CruCru · 18/11/2014 14:26

Well, I had another go at W1R1. I have not lost as much fitness as I had thought I would so I sprinted the running bits. Next I'll have another go at W2R1.

Well done CruCru. When were you last able to run and what week did you get to? I can't remember.

MySpideySenseTickles · 18/11/2014 15:38

Just checking in, ds has decided to be off school ill again.
How dare he get sick when I have running to do!
And my treadmill is no more, the catch keeping it folded broke and the bloody thing nearly squashed the cat.
It's been given away in disgrace.

CruCru · 18/11/2014 17:21

Thanks DaftMaul. I bloody finished AND did a park run. But since them we've had some very time consuming building work and I hurt my neck and back.

So I'm starting again and going to go through each one until I get to the stage where I start finding it hard work again. Then I'll move on from there by doing the programme properly, if you see what I mean.

CruCru · 18/11/2014 17:22

That's annoying Spidey. Was it expensive?

Just marking my place...

crappyday · 18/11/2014 18:17

Hoping to do w5r2 tomorrow.

foxinorangesocks · 18/11/2014 19:03

Hi I'd like to tag along please. After a two year break I've just finished w3r3. I was running 10k two years ago but now I just want to get up to 5k so I can go on my first park run in the new year. I'm finding it all ok so far but anticipate being a bit disappointed that next week is harder than this one!

MontserratCaballe · 18/11/2014 19:40

Thanks for the new thread, Cru

No running for me today but will be out on Friday. Well done to everyone who has been out. I think in the winter months just leaving the house is a challenge in itself. However, the colours are still so lovely and it's not TOO cold yet, so you can get quite warm quickly.

Keep on running everyone Smile

addictedtosugar · 18/11/2014 19:46

Hello.

Welcome back, CruCru. A month off, and I managed 5km with a couple of walking breaks. I'd jump to w3 if I were you.

Nice finish to the last thread, Daft.

Spidey. Your getting there. And a thought from the old post about people seeing you - how do they know if you've just run for 26 seconds or 26 mins (or 26 miles)? They don't, so don't be put off by them. Anyone who has run will know you've put effort in, and anyone who doesn't run isn't worth worrying about their opinion on running, 'cause they couldn't do it!

MySpideySenseTickles · 19/11/2014 09:15

It was free. My favorite price!
I'm just calling this week a dud and I'll get back on it next week, ds has been off school sick so ive not had time to go out, today is the first time I'd have time but my period arrived this morning after dissapearing for two months. It's going to be a horriffic few days and I can't face running on top of that. It's a curl up with hot water bottles and painkillers sort of week. Sad

CornishYarg · 19/11/2014 23:21

Hello, I'd like to join in too. I completed w5r3 tonight and I am so proud of myself!

I am not very fit, I'm overweight and overburdened in the nork department - basically I'm a long way from your average runner! I've never been good at running and w1 was a struggle. I never believed I'd be able to run for 20 minutes without stopping a month later. I definitely embraced the "it's not about speed" motto but I told myself I could keep going and I did. The sense of pride and rush of endorphins after was an amazing feeling.

So just wanted to say to all those starting out, stick with it as I'm so glad I did. Week 6 next!

foxinorangesocks · 20/11/2014 06:52

Cornish you have motivated me to get out of bed and do w4r1 before work. It's dark and chilly and my bed is warm and cosy Hmm

addictedtosugar · 20/11/2014 08:24

I LOVE Yarg. Unfortunatly its just not available up here. I have to wait til I go home, and then sometimes it can be found.

Anyway, I'm also "not very fit, I'm overweight and overburdened in the nork department " - and can run 5km (8 on a good day, but might need 30 sec walking in the middle). Its not a compleate barrier!

CornishYarg · 20/11/2014 08:56

Brilliant Fox. I hate mornings and struggle to get out of my warm cosy bed full stop, let alone running!

Addicted - Yarg has a lot to answer for when it comes to my current physique Hmm Yes, yesterday was a big mental leap as I now believe I'll be able to get to 5k whereas before I wasn't really convinced deep down.

MaMaPo · 20/11/2014 09:04

Hello, I'm completely new to this thread. I started C25K about 7 months ago, only got as far as ?week 3 until life got in the way (or, sick toddler and 3 weeks away).

I just bought a proper app and did w1r1 yesterday pretty easily. I just need to keep on going! I'm not fit, never been a runner but I like the idea of being able to do it. So here goes.

ChuckNovice · 20/11/2014 09:15

Hi all. New to couch to 5k and never really ran before but I started last week. Am now on week 2 and just did round 2 last night which I found quite tough however I didn't find round 1 that hard the other day. I don't know of it was because it was cold and I seem to get a sore throat of I run in the cold. I also did a very uphill route which was difficult. Do other people get good days and bad days?

ChuckNovice · 20/11/2014 09:16

Of = if Blush

CornishYarg · 20/11/2014 09:26

Chuck, yes I definitely have good and bad runs; I try not to dwell on the bad ones. I find I run better at certain times of the day but I can't always coincide my runs with this time.

Now I'm running for longer times, I've had to design my route to avoid any uphills towards the end of the run. Hopefully my hill stamina will improve in time.

foxinorangesocks · 20/11/2014 09:38

Well I did it! Now sat at work feeling a bit stiff and tired. Think I'm an evening runner.

hellodave · 21/11/2014 12:09

Can i join you please. W1r1 this morning at 6:30.
This is my second attempt at c25k..... tried early this year when ds4 was 8 w old.... got to wk2 but tbh think i was being a bit mad to even try it then.
I havent been fit since i was a sporty teenager.... and then i discovered booze fags and men. Off the fags and booze now and i want to be FIT again.
Running in slightly crap trainers now.... how much do I need to save for a decent pair? Scared to go into proper shop as i know they are likely to be ££££

ChuckNovice · 21/11/2014 15:05

I need proper trainers too hellodave but I know if I buy decent ones ill give up so I'm waiting until I get a bit further on as a reward.

I did week 2r2 today with my 14 month old in the buggy. Very hard even up slight hills. I'm not good running in the cold, my throat always burns and feels like I can't breath.

Minithemoocher · 21/11/2014 15:22

Hi, can I join? I had my dd 12 weeks ago and did my first run (w1r1?) yesterday. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be! Strangely I'm looking forward to my next run, partly because I get a guaranteed half hour all to myself.
