It's meant to say my legs couldn't keep going and I had to keep stopping

I have this occasionally, and I've been running for about 18 months. Usually if I've had a bad night's sleep or if I'm about to get a cold. I wouldn't worry - just take it as it comes, slow down if you need to, and it will probably be fine next time.

I've been running for years and get days like this. Have a couple of rest days and try again, you'll most likely be fine Smile

Blimey I really hope so, I was so disappointed with myself and feel like a failure today. I was wondering if I've reached my potential (as I'm not built for running at all and have come from a place of being very unfit ). Sigh.

Oh you definitely won't have reached your potential, keep going!

It happens even when you've been running for ages. I've done two half marathons in the past month. Went out this morning and struggled round 5 miles. Just wasn't feeling it.

Keep going, next time will be better.

And I'm not built for running either. I can manage 15 miles more or less non stop on a good day as long as my EEs are firmly held in place!

I often lose my running mojo and it gets me down aswell!

As others have said, try something different for a few days, or even take a break completely. In just a few days you won't really lose much if any of the fitness and stamina you've built up.

It'll come back to you - and when it does you'll be ready to get out there again!

Good luck.

Glad it's not just me then. I hope I can get back on the wagon in a few days and my legs will behave, it was really weird cos I wasn't out of breath at all, the rest of me could have carried on.

This happens to me sometimes and I have been running for years. It often coincides with me realising that I haven't drunk much water in the few hours leading up to the run.

Same here. Two days ago I ran 11k without any trouble. This morning I did a 5K and was practically on my knees and weeping for the last 2K.

As you run more and build up your base you'll realise that sometimes you just have a bad running day. It might be because you're tired or dehydrated or fighting off a cold, but I think most of the time it's just one of those things.

Try not to be disheartened, honestly! You are nowhere near your potential, I bet.
