Blisters....

How do you all cope with blisters?
I have one on the back of my heel which is about the size of a 50p piece. The skin had rubbed off as the skin rubbed off as I kept running! It is now so sore I'm not sure I can get my trainers on!

What do you guys do when you get a proper big, painful blister?

I never get blisters tbh. You can get plasters for blisters. Do your trainers fit ok? Do you wear sports socks?

Compeed blister plasters are brilliant. They really help and get rid of that nippy pain when you put shoes on again.

JennyOnTheBlocks · 19/10/2014 21:31

i've never had a blister from running as yet, a cut on the next toe from a sharp toenail, but no blisters

i always wear padded running socks and shoes at least a half a size too big, to account for swelling as you warm up

but now i'm stepping up the miles, i'm going to invest in some double-skin blister socks
when i've had a blister from ordinary shoes, the Compeed blister plasters have been best

My trainer socks slipped down whilst I was running and only notice the stinging once the damaged ha been done and several thick layers of skin had been removed!
Will get some compeed plasters. Do they do them in various sizes? I've had to improvise an use kitchen toll and sallotape as there were no bloody plasters in the house big enough!!!!

Compeed are fab, and only come in one size.

Trainer socks aren't a good idea as they move too easily. I like my thousand mile socks which are double layer so no blisters or soreness at all whatever the distance

Compeed plaster do come in more than one size. They do medium and small and also mixed packets. They are not cheap, although you often get 3 for 2 offers in boots. Tescos do a much cheaper own brand blister plaster which arent bad either, but not as good as compeed.

I haven't had any blisters since I discovered Balega socks! COMFORT AND JOY

BodyGlide is good for preventing blisters.

My only blister came 10 days before my first 10k race, and the pharmacist recommended a film covering also used for burns, which did the trick.

MrsWahlberg · 20/10/2014 22:17

Probably going to massively out myself posting this pic.... WARNING! This is the blister!!!
I opted for barefoot body pump at home today as couldn't face putting my trainers on!

Ay-yi (as they say in Dinopaws) poor you!

MrsWahlberg · 21/10/2014 16:13

Well compeed blister plaster on plus a padded/cushioned dressing/plaster thing and old comfy trainers and managed my 5k run today! Will invest in some decent sports socks and ensure there's a cupboard full of compeed in the future! Lol! Actually in the future when I feel that stinging sensation I won't carry on tunning the blister won't be quite so painful next time!
