Would you recommend the Shred or any other suggestions welcome ? I am really in the mood to make a huge effort over a short space of time

What do you want to do - tone up or significantly increase aerobic fitness?

The shred is pretty good for toning up (particularly if you combine it with watching what you eat). But not that good for aerobic stuff. If you want to see aerobic results in a short time I'd switch between different aerobic activities e.g. swimming, bike, running etc so that you can exercise often (like 6 times + per week) without straining the same muscles each time.

MM tone up and lose weight I think ;)

I'm not sure there is a fast fix, it'll vary from person to person but your body will only adapt at a certain rate

Suzannewithaplan · 29/05/2014 20:57

of course there is an optimum way of doing things but if you've reached a good level of fitness before I'm thinking you'll already have a good idea of what works for you OP?

I'm in a similar position. I'm doing this starting on Monday. I want to be much fitter at the end of it.

Sleepwhenidie · 29/05/2014 21:09

'Unfit' and 'very fit' are relative terms...can you explain how unfit you are and how fit you want to be Smile? I would describe myself as very fit, but at my least fit (a year post birth, during which I did pretty much no exercise at all) I found swimming the best way to,build up my fitness quickly so that I could start running and lifting weights again. What kind of fitness are you after? Any specific goal?

Suzannewithaplan · 29/05/2014 21:20

'I want to be much fitter at the end of it'

fitness/body composition will improve over the course of a month but you'll see further improvements the longer you keep it up...30 days isnt much, I'd be inclined to see getting fit as a longer term project.

BrianButterfield · 29/05/2014 21:23

Running + shred has helped me tone and regain fitness in four weeks and I started to see and feel results quickly.

I was a county level netball player, did ballet and had a physical job a s sales rep carrying large pilots case - size 8 but heavily muscled. Am now size 22 internet entrepreneur ie sat on the computer most of the day. I build muscle very quickly and have a big lung capacity naturally ( 150% over average) measured recently.

Walking and cross trainer until you lose enough weight to run then run. If you rush into doing something high impact you might seriously injured yourself

Sleepwhenidie · 31/05/2014 20:49

I agree, low impact is the way to go, walking, swimming if you can swim quite well (IMO this is best for building up aerobic fitness quickly, studies show it helps improve the performance of regular runners because of the breathing discipl

... Sorry discipline! Shred is good but may be tough on your knees until you lose some weight so go carefully. Smile.
