I know some people don't bother but, for those that do, what pants do you wear under tight capri length leggings type gym wear?

I can't believe people don't wear pants - its surely just asking for thrush?

I like shorts style ones, very comfy, I just buy from supermarket in multi packs of plain black usually.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 12/05/2014 10:54

I either wear a thong thing or nothing....I cannot bear vpl under gym trousers, makes it look like you have 2 bums! Saying that, I always make sure the leggins I wear are the nice thick material so nothing on view :)

deepinthewoods · 14/05/2014 19:59

Why is it asking for thrush?
I don't wear anything under my gym trousers, but they get washed after every time I wear them- I don't see how that is any less hygeinic than wearing pants and should give me thrush. I do agree about good quality leggings though- no see through fabric.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/05/2014 20:04

thong, but larger size than for proper clothes.

BikeRunSki · 14/05/2014 20:06

Nothing - no chaffing. Same a cyclists who wear Lycra.

NorbertDentressangle · 14/05/2014 20:11

I wear flesh coloured, non-VPL Sloggi shorts but I do find that they sometimes ride up and need retrieving from my bum (wedgie!) so would like to find something more comfortable

I can't stand the thought of going commando at the gym.

MinesAPintOfTea · 14/05/2014 20:16

Shorts style knickers. So what if I have vpl I'm there to exercise not parade and anyone who notices shouldn't be looking at my bum that closely and had only discovered that I wear knickers, better than realising the opposite imo.

chickydoo · 14/05/2014 20:17

As an instructor believe me virtually no tight gym trousers/crops etc are completely opaque. It is not a pretty sight, legs akimbo, no undies. You can virtually see what people had for breakfast!
Bend over in a strong light before you put your wares on display in a class, or ask a very close or honest friend.
Unless of course you don't mind everyone seeing where the sun doesn't shine Grin

CMOTDibbler · 14/05/2014 20:21

Microfibre shorts from Tescos are nice and soft, stay in place, and no chafing.

For cycling it is shorts only, but those have a chamois pad, so nothing to see

deepinthewoods · 14/05/2014 20:26

I couldn't wear them. I never wear knickers anyway, can't stand the things.

magpiegin · 14/05/2014 20:29

I wear hipster short knickers. As someone said above, why would I care if I had a vpl, I'm at the gym! Don't care what I look like.

RhondaJean · 14/05/2014 20:58

Wearing nothing is asking for thrush as its synthetic material directly against your bits while you are sweating. It's honestly not rocket science to work out this is not good for you.

Neither is wearing a thong under normal cotton leggings while exercising. Believe me, you may not mind as you cannot actually see the view the rest of us do, but don't be surprised if you spot yourself on a dodgy website one day.

As others said, I'd recommend the shorts. And if you are concerned about your vpl while exercising, you aren't working hard enough.

deepinthewoods · 14/05/2014 21:19

"Wearing nothing is asking for thrush as its synthetic material directly against your bits while you are sweating."

But most decent gym wear is a cotton/lycra mix, my leggings are 85% cotton.
I hate synthetic fabric at the gym, it doesn't breathe or absorb sweat.

It's not rocket science to choose a fabric that allows your skin to breathe.

NorbertDentressangle · 14/05/2014 21:42

"most decent gym wear is a cotton/lycra mix......

...surely most gym wear like Nike Dri Fit etc is manmade fabric designed to wick sweat away from the body and evaporate quickly?

CMOTDibbler · 14/05/2014 21:47

Cotton is just yuck as an overall fabric when you are sweating - when I come back from running or cycling, my manmade wicking stuff is dry and my cotton lined sports bra will be sodden with sweat and v grim.

RhondaJean · 14/05/2014 22:36

I'm presuming some of you have never h a really bad case of thrush, where you cannot actually walk without pain.

I am very glad for you...

But we can still see your bits. All of them.

RhondaJean · 14/05/2014 22:38

Actually you've just reminded me of the time we went away for the weekend to a hydro hotel and DH forgot his swim trunks.

All was well in th jacuzzi in his white football shorts for teh gym. U til he stood up to go in the sauna...

Several elderly dunblane ladies have never been the same.

deepinthewoods · 15/05/2014 08:30

I man made fabric is so wonderful why wouldn't you want to wear it next to your chuff?
