Generally running between 4 and 12 miles in one go but always have to stop with longer runs. Any advice?

This is going to sound daft but do you really? Or is it all in your head?

I was desperate for a wee at the start of LM and uncomfortable for the first mile or so but it passed and I didn't actually go for at least an hour after the finish.

Are you drinking too much? We see/hear so much about making sure we're properly hydrated but lots of runners go overboard. You don't need to take a drink with you for runs of 12 miles or less unless it's very hot and sipping throughout the day is far better than downing a drink just before you go out.

What and when do you eat before a run?

Weak pelvic muscles? I know a mum-of-4 who stops for toilet breaks at every run.

Before a run I always feel dehydrated so end up drinking a pint (water not beer!). I worry about running and being dehydrated.

Well, no wonder you need a wee! You'd need the toilet after drinking a pint of water whether you were running or not! It must be uncomfortable too. Can't you feel it sloshing about?

If you drink regularly through the day, you won't get dehydrated from a run of 2 hours or less in normal conditions.

I can be the same - I've noticed certain times in my cycle are worse than others.

For wee I just stop and go in the ditch, but I live in a very rural area. Hate running with a full bladder and am also obsessed with not getting dehydrated. .
Had a bad case of the runners trots 2 years ago but otherwise am untroubled by number twos while running.

Why do you think you might get dehydrated? Do you live in a very hot country? Do you sweat a lot?

I can't imagine running with a pint of water in my stomach.

I don't drink on 12 miles runs, although I have a lot of water afterwards. And I check that my urine is clear or pale yellow for the next few hours.

Also I don't eat for 2 hours before runs.
