We have just moved house and are changing our lives. We are all DH, me and DCs are all unfit for various reasons having been for so we want to get back there.

I am the least fit and have been ill. Am ok now but v over weight, DH and dcs generally unfit. DS has mild dyspraxia and hypertonia.

There is a crossfit box nearby which also has crossfit kids sessions. I have read a lot about crossfit in last few weeks and think it's sounds good but wonder if we would struggle too much. Also on the pics everyone looks so fit would it just be humiliating?

Would love to hear from crossfiters

I started in January. I had a reasonable level of fitness as I run but not much upper body strength. It is hard work but such good fun.My arms have already got much more definition. A good trainer will help you scale the exercises to your abilities and you gradually build up. Most people scale what they do to some extent. My box is friendly and supportive to everyone no matter their level. I absolutely love it...give it a try, you have nothing to lose!

I second brainwashed comment, crossfit is great for all shapes and sizes as everything can be scaled to your abilities. It is a great way of improving overall fitness. I loved going, but stopped when I became pregnant with DS as was too ill to even think about exercise! He is 9 months now and seriously considering going back if I can find the time, although it is quite expensive. Go for it, would be worth a try a least

I am a CrossFit coach and I really encourage you to give it a try! It is THE best methodology for improving General Physical Preparedness, or fitness across ALL physical skills (strength, power, speed, endurance, stamina, agility, coordination, flexibility, accuracy and balance), with years of research to back it up. We have people who start CrossFit having spent their lives running marathons, thinking they are 'fit' - yes they might be able to run, but can't squat, for example. and they are still challenged just like everyone else. In other words, everyone is a beginner first, and you work at your own pace. A good coach should scale the metcons (the conditioning workouts) so that you are working at a level that is appropriate for YOU. The community is amazing and is a big part of why the system is so effective. If your local box has an 'on-ramp' intro course, go do it, then you can see it if it's for you! For many people CrossFit has been a real game changer, and the achievements can cascade into other aspects of your life.
