My summer clothes are a bit on the snug side, and my fitness levels are not great. It isn't drastic (I'm talking about a few pounds of extra weight rather than the four stones heavier that I was after DC2 but I want to nip it in the bud!) but I'd like to shift the weight, feel better in my clothes, and get a bit of 'zing' back into my life with some exercise.
I'm imposing a bit of discipline in my diet, so that's a start. But what about the exercise?
Option (1) is to walk to work. It gets me where I need to be, and I can manage without a shower, but it takes about 45 minutes each way, and most of the route is along busy roads.
Option (2) is to do more running. This morning I ran 2.9 miles in 30 minutes before work, but I can't run to work (no showers) so time is limited to probably half an hour max.
So, MN exercise experts: is running (3 miles, 30 minutes) a more efficient and effective form of weight-loss exercise than walking to work (2.4 miles at about 17-18 minutes a mile). Or should I just eat less and not worry too much about the rest?!
