That's how mine feels.

If I have the seat forward it feels like it's rubbing my bottom hole and I fear about getting piles. Too far back and it feels like where I wee from is on fire for next few days.

In the noddles and my underneath bones are bloody sore.

Is there some secret I don't know about?

Sorry for tmi btw.

Buy some padded cycle shorts and use plenty of Vaseline or similar around the foof-ular area.
:)

You do get used to it I promise and it doesn't hurt as much - or if you get into it buy a padded seat you put on the existing one!

Madamecastafiore · 16/04/2014 21:27

Friends tell me I have soft southern flaps! Just got to wait for them to harden up!

Don't you get greasy down there with lots of Vaseline?

I have beautiful gym clothes to help me feel good about post baby body. Don't want bloody padding to look even bigger!

The padding goes under your fanny, so not sure about views on fat fannies!!!

As a general rule of thumb your seat to handlebar length should be the same as your own elbow to hand length.

I guess if you don't want to wear padded cycling shorts you could wear a Dr whites sanitary pad to protect your fanny...?

funny

was thinking of starting similar thread about bikes in general, but I do have a removable extra gel pad for my spin bike at home or that I can take to classes but I think it would be too squishy for the road

also at spin obviously you come out of the saddle a lot and that helps and the rest of it you just sort of harden to?

LadyMud · 19/04/2014 17:45

Yes, there is a secret! Wide padded saddles are not necessarily comfortable. You need the saddle to support your sit bones (ischial tuberosity). Too wide or too narrow will be painful, as you've discovered.

Another secret (not sure how this applies to spin bikes) is to either lower the handlebars, or raise the seat. This will tip your balance forward, so that your arms take more weight.

Good luck!

Oh, and there's a famous thread on SingleTrackWorld about this subject.

VivaLeBeaver · 19/04/2014 17:50

Omg, at that thread.

What does the poster mean that a lady's undercarriage change as we get older? What's going to happen? Are my flaps going to grow?

LadyMud · 19/04/2014 18:00

Don't worry Viva - I'm way beyond "a certain age", and nothing much has changed yet Grin

CMOTDibbler · 19/04/2014 18:07

Padded cycling shorts, no pants, and lancane anti chafing gel, or Bodyglide (which as a stick is more offputting, but less soggy).

VivaLeBeaver · 19/04/2014 18:08

Thank God. I read that appparantly mens' ears never stop growing but never read about flaps.

GrumpyInYorkshire · 27/04/2014 10:27

I just bought one of those removable gel seat thingies from Lidl the other day. I do four spin classes a week and it's really helped with the saddle soreness. Cost less than a fiver too.

The shorts with a padded bum are good too, but I always wear baggy running shorts over the top to look slightly less odd...
