Weight gain on 30 Day Shred - how much is reasonable to put down to muscle weighing more than fat?

As per title - been doing 30 Day Shred for 26 days and have put on about 3 lbs. I'm 5'10" and gone from hovering around 9st 3lbs to around 9st 6lbs.

I've been watching what I eat too so not been pigging out. Before shredding I was running 5k 2-3 times a week maybe that's the difference? (Just started running again).

It sounds like you were probably right at the bottom of a healthy weight range before and it has helped you gain some muscle? At that height and weight it is certainly nothing to worry about and I would imagine you look better for gaining. Perhaps measuring your body fat would help? You will probably find it has gone down.

Yes, BMI was about 18.5. Now 18.9.

I've always been slim skinny that's me. But due to going back to work and sitting on my bum 8 hours a day (and eating too many of the cake/biscuits/treats always on offer), and getting older I think, I went up to 10st last spring which is the heaviest I've been without being pregnant.

Lost a stone which was too much. I feel the right weight for me at 9st 3lbs-6lbs but have never really exercised before so maybe I just need to get used to being a little bit heavier?

I've never owned a set of scales till recently as I never had to worry about my weight - stayed at 9st 3lbs whatever. I don't want to become obsessed but I want to continue feel like me.

I just don't want the weight to creep back on - easier to maintain rather than lose and all that.

Yes- I had a back issue which really restricted what exercise I could do but I actually lost weight as I lost muscle. Didn't change clothes size though.

I would stop focusing on what you weigh...how do you feel? Ditch the scales. Take measurements if you want to and keep track of those (if you are gaining muscle and losing fat you will weigh more but measure smaller). If you can get your body fat measured by a PT then you could monitor it that way too. If you feel strong, fit and healthy and are pretty happy with the way you look that's all you really need to know Smile
