if you have a set please would you share your experience/opinions

I've been considering getting some for a while but cant decide if they are accurate enough to be worthwhile Hmm and whether it is worth paying extra $$ for the all bells & whistles versions? Confused

mine are salter although actual model unknown, am happy with the actual weight but the body fat readings are a bit mad - at least 10% higher than calipers, which is terrifying because usually scales give a much lower BF% than calipers - although fairly consistent

am very interested in the tanita scales that link up with garmin connect then I won't have to remember to update it every time there is a real change so will hover here in case someone posts about them

thanks Mitchy, I read DC rainmakers review of the tanita scales, they cost an arm and a leg though and assuming they use the same technology (bioelectrical impedance?) I cant help wondering if they'd actually be all that accurate than cheaper models Confused

these are the ones I want

Mitchy1nge · 21/01/2014 21:12

oh x posted

will look at the review but think am probably going to get them anyway at some point, would be good to hear from others who use them in conjunction with garmin though

Lazysuzanne · 21/01/2014 21:24

they are 200 quid though!

I remember using some in a gym a while ago, if I told them I was a man they gave me a lower body fat than if I told them I was a woman, which makes me think they give you the average body composition for a person of your height weight and gender Confused

I'm wondering if just cheap callipers wouldnt be better, combined with waist measurements.

I dont necessarily want to know the actual percentage is, just some way of seeing if there is a change in bodyfat other than trying to figure out if my abs are slightly more/less visible or is the light different!

what do you think of the one site calipers that you can just use on yourself, would that work for you instead?

£200 is mad, am trying to save for a more advanced Garmin as it is

Lazysuzanne · 21/01/2014 21:50

I may look into them...big price difference!

I had my bf measured by pt with callipers-came out at 17%...used a scales a couple of weeks later (no change in weight/ training)...28% Confused! Same scales (at gym) has had me at 18% one week and as high as 32% on others, I have given up - 32% reading ruined my day even though rationally I know it's wrong! I think you know yourself when you are a bit chubbier/leaner, a scale isn't necessary!

Shock Bodyfat scales are clearly the work of the devil!
