Best fat burning exercise I can do at home?

Can't get to a gym and usually have a child to look after.

I seriously need to lose weight and want to get fit. What's the best exercise for doing this?

Considering shred also looking at general cardio workouts on YouTube.

I need some help please.

Shred is excellent as is 'ripped in 30' as much as I hate to admit it Jillian Michaels is excellent at the old motivation. Just get yourself a couple of hand weights and don't forget to draw your curtains whilst prancing around Grin

Also what about brisk walking with the baby in the push chair? Our local park has a weekly group of parents and buggies!

I do a lot of walking but I don't find it intense enough. I walk to and from school each day, about 4 miles a day. I have the metabolism of a snail and appetite of a horse! Dd is now 6 months and enough is enough. My joints are starting to hurt and I'm not getting any younger.

I need to lose a lot of weight (8 stone to get to my average healthy weight). One of the best motivators for me last time was to feel fitter and see a more toned me but fast. I used to run for 30mins then do 20mins resistance. It took about 8 weeks of 6 days a week before I noticed a difference. I don't have the time or freedom to do this at the moment.

I do a fit buggy class weekly but again it's just not enough. I also find that as it's only once a week I'm shattered for the rest of the day and my body never really gets it.

I need to increase my muscle mass to increase my metabolism and be able to do more.

I like the fitnessblender.com programmes, and they have one for busy people (eg only 30 minutes per day, the other programmes are 45-60 minutes on average). I really like Shred as well.

I like this youtube exercise video@

but it is more toning than cardio.

To increase your muscle mass within a short time (both short amounts of times spent exercising and quick results iyswim) weights / resistance exercises will be more efficient than cardio.

Have you tried the 30 day Shred? Maybe do that in conjunction with running with the buggy.....could you get in your exercise gear and run on the way back from / way to the school run (i.e. the times you just have the baby with you)? So it doesn't take up much more time than doing the school run but does have additional fitness benefits.

Kettle worx is ace. It's using kettle bells so toning too.

Using weights is a great way to fat burn.

30 day shred is amazing. I was in agony after day 1 but defo worth it

Another vote for shred- for maximum fat burn make sure you do it in a fasted state, i.e. not eating for a good few hours before you do it. Before breakfast is great if you can. That way your body has to burn fat to fuel your workout.

The seven minute workout is pretty good too- it's a mix of resistance and cardio and the idea is to do 2-3 circuits minimum a day. You can get s free iPhone app.

Weights would be great- building muscle will increase your metabolism. Body weight exercises like push-ups (proper ones, not girly style), squats, lunges, triceps dips etc can all be done at home without any need for equipment.

HIIT (high intensity interval training) is much better than steady state cardio for burning flab too. You could look into tabata.

Remember too that losing weight is estimated to be 20% exercise and 80% diet- if you're over eating then you won't burn the fat. I really recommend 5:2 to help get appetite under control. It has worked so well for me combined with exercise.
