Painful pubic bones ... after walking

I a not hundred percent sure of my anatomy, the ache is literally on the bones that stick out just above the knicker line, excuse the technical terms anatomy,... . I just wondered if anyone else had experienced aches which feels like it's located on top of the bones that stick out ..on really thin people (lol). I think it's my pubic bones. One side hurt some time ago and the doctor thought it was muscle tear but now it's bilateral. It sort of feels they are badly bruised. I had an ultrasound for knee pain (I should change my name to sick note) and it showed no signs of arthritis and didn't highlight any other problems.

It's not pain, more of an ache and just plain uncomfortable. I have being doing a lot of walking (I used run years ago but hurt my knees) and I am loathe to give all walking, but I have a sneaky feeling it's making it worse (but the thought of doing no exercise upsets me). I'm not sure if I have done it carrying my LO, or heavy bags. It's hard to not carry a toddler, I've tried to reduce it, but some carrying is inevitable (i.e. taking him out of his cot, buggy).

I have a physio appointment for my knees next year but it feels like a long wait to do no exercise, but like I said, I don't want to make it any worse.

I didn't have any hip pain prior to having a baby and I breastfed for a year (and was doing a little bit of running but then but stopped when the knee pain got severe) so I imagine my ligaments were a bit looser for a while but I stopped breastfeeding well over a year and a half ago now.

I feel embarrassed going to the doctor again (I seem to live at the doctors) and I am pretty sure they will say they don't know, wait for the physio, rest and take anti-inflammatories. The thought of doing NO exercise for months... seems terrifying.

Has anyone else suffered from the same aches, did anything improve it? make it worse?

Thank you x

Take a look at the Pelvic Partnership website. I know it isn't SPD as such, but the physios they recommend are experts in women's pelvic joints and ligaments, so should be able to offer educated help. Sadly I think pelvic girdle issues are a Cinderella area.

Have you considered going to see an osteopath? I had a dodgy hip for years after my first baby and some fairly ineffective physio, then got SPD when pregnant with my second baby 10 years later. I had pain in the same area as you. I had several treatments with an osteopath who was an utter genius and it worked a treat - I've had no problems since.

This is really helpful, thank you ladies. The thing is, I didn't have this ache during pregnancy. It's really uncomfortable. My LO is sitting on my lap and it feels like someone has taken a grater to my bones :-( I will keep you posted. Thanks, it was getting me down last night as it hurt to lie on either side.
