How much do you ache? does it get better??

Right, I'm about 2 months into trying to get fitter - swimming 4x a week or so and 1 physio class a week.

I swam this am 40mins. It was still very knackering and very breathlessness inducing. I'm still aching like the blazes and walking like an 80yr old. My poor glutes!

Will it get better? I assumed " take it gently and build up" kind of would have started to happen by now....

Some days I ache more than others, if I do a faster or longer than normal run. Have you got a foam roller? I got one a few weeks ago and it is amazing for sore hamstrings and quads. My friend who is a much more experienced runner than me told me to sit on a tennis ball and roll around for sore glutes and it that works too.

Well done for sticking at it Theas:o
Have you not seen any improvements?
A bit less out of breath...not quite so sore afterwards?

am not surprised you ache, swimming is really hard work isn't it? (I can't actually swim very well so that might influence my view)

I like the end of each day when I'm lying in bed feeling all my aches and pains Grin slightly masochistic . . . they don't get in the way of the rest of my life but I just assume that my body will keep reminding me how hard it is working, especially now I'm so old!

Seeing any improvement? Not sure.maybe I'm going faster? Still plodding in the slow lane though lol. Technique is better though.

Was pushing myself re distance but this week I'm sticking at 20 lengths to see it that helps.

Just off to physio class. I reckon I'm getting the skills better there hence the sore bum. Bridge curls that really use your glutes hurt! We are certainly stepping up the intensity at the class...

Everyone is different in terms of how quickly they see improvements but it sounds as if you are making progress.
There's a lot going on, you are training your neuro-muscular system (ie technique) and improving your cardio vascular efficiency, just keep at it and things will come together!

I enjoy all post exercise soreness, not the pain of injury of course, thats a different thing.
