Anyone rowing on a machine?

I was wondering if anyone else is rowing on a rowing machine?

I've started a programme designed to help me lose weight, and get fit.

We have a rowing machine at home, which has had years of good use! Don't follow a particular programme, although I vary duration, intensity etc in a crude way and log down the stats afterwards.

You might already have seen this, but there's loads of good info on the Concept 2 site, re training, technique etc:

Good luck with your programme - rowing machines are marvellous bits of kit and rowing is a great workout.

Yes, I am. I'm in training for a ski event and while we are waiting for the snow to come the erg is a good way of getting fit.
I second the concept 2 site, loads of good information there.

I did a 45 min row this morning - start of week 6 and to break it down, programmed it as 10 mins but with zero pause. Stopped after 5 mins into my fifth row. The blasted pm3 didn't record the 5 mins after the 40.

Strangely, I'm not losing any weight, but have found some new muscle half way down my torso, which, when I pull it in creates a new spare tyre, below my boobs. Wonderful Grin

The concept2 site used to created programmes, but they no longer have that page. There must have been some reorganisation as they directed me to the rowing company site.

Interestingly, concept2 don't hire any more, but the rowing company do.

Doesn't matter, as I've bought mine, and it lurks waiting for me every other morning.

Oh. Still seems to be lots of information/workout ideas and tips on their site e.g. on the Weight Loss page:

Well done on your rowing progress. 45 minutes is a long time!
