Hi - I stupidly, after about 4 months of doing C25K (with gaps, had done it before a couple of years back but stopped running) signed up for a 10K run for the Stroke association today. I signed up 3 weeks ago, my Nan died of a stroke in March and just felt I had to...it is looming, and I am worried! I managed 6k earlier in the week and a few times before that, but never without walking up the hills, I just think I am not going to be able to do it.
It doesn't help that despite lots of support from friends and colleagues, my family have not even mentioned it. They know it is a huge challenge for me, I have posted my just giving page on FB, told them about it etc - no sponsorship, no good lucks, nothing. They only live down the road. I will have DD and DH with me when I finish it, but that is all. Feel a bit let down. They were very close to my nan, it was a shock when she passed away, but they have sponsored me for Race For Life in the past, as she had cancer earlier in her life.
Anyway, just looking for words of wisdom/practical things I can do! I am going to stretch and drink lots of water, take a brisk walk down there (5-10mins) and do the warm up.
My knees hurt just thinking about it though!
