Ds2 was born 15 weeks ago. I had a lot of weight to lose and dropped 3 stone with about another 1 to go. I have also got back into running, doing distances of 5 to 10k 3 times a week.
Everywhere is looking trimmer and tighter apart from my belly sag! I've been doing sit ups. what else can I do!?

Plank plank and more plank! Seriously, it works.....or try the 30 day abs challenge.

Good luck.

Wow, well done you. That's amazing in 15 weeks!

Definitely planking for tummy but maybe worth checking your tummy muscles are up to it. I think some exercises can make it worse at an early stage pp.

Sorry to sound silly but what's planking.? Thanks,!

Lay on the floor.
Lift your body up so you're resting on your toes and forearms.
Suck in your tummy and keep your back flat.
Do not stick your bum in the air.

You are now planking.
Hold it
Hold...
Keep holding...
Hold it
Good good

And relax.

You should feel it in your stomach muscles.

Fantastic, you've done really well! It's important to make sure your not starving yourself first of all as this will slow down your metabolic rate, your body will go into survival mode and will store fat. Eat quality foods eg loads of green veg, eggs, include carbs the body needs a well balanced diet. Run, fantastic for burning fat, all the sit ups in the world will not get rid of a flabby belly, you need to burn off fat, and use resistance techniques ie medicine ball when doing sit ups. Hope this helps, feel free to email me via my website Healthy Balance Fitness. Don't give up! ??

A perfect diet plan and exercise will surely work for you,And I have just tried a product by Cellu Blue and it is really very effective for losing weight easily.
You can also try this out if you wish.

3 stones in 4 months?????

What the hell are your secrets??!!!

PractialJoke · 28/09/2013 07:45

Planks are great, but you do need to make sure you do it right or you'll hurt your back. Best if you can do it in front of a mirror to begin with. You need to be absolutely straight (like a plank!) with your bum neither sticking up or sagging down. You need to keep you abs pulled in tight to protect your back - you should feel the strain in your abs, not you back iyswim.

Pilates is fantastic for developing a strong toned core and will strengthen your back too - just doing ab exercises will tone your tummy but you can end up unbalanced and stooping if you have strong stomach, but a weak back. Can also lead to injury - especially if you're running. A strong core will improve your running too.

I had my first ever defined abs from walking miles with a pram! Because my lifestyle at the time involved loads of walking, I had a heavy pram with a large shopping basket underneath (nothing fancy) Every time I had to push down on the handle to get it up a curb was like doing a crunch! Was especially effective when I had one or those monstrous Graco tandem things, with the weight of a toddler in the front.

Fridayschild · 28/09/2013 07:54

Another vote for Pilates. You have to really work yourself during the classes though, no treating lying on the floor as a nice rest!

TwentyTinyToes · 28/09/2013 07:58

The shred. It is tough but effective.

Sweetsandchocolate · 28/09/2013 13:13

I'm on day 20 of shred and I've definitely toned up but I still have a horrid saggy tummy (6mth post DC3). Angry

debbie1412 · 07/10/2013 17:21

Can I add to this also 2 kids have lost 2st but have an awful lot of belly fat, obviously I need to tone also but why am I shedding fat from everywhere else but not my belly??

lotsofcheese · 07/10/2013 17:32

Looking for a miracle here too! My stomach is terrible after 2 emergency c-sections Hmm

showtunesgirl · 07/10/2013 19:23

STOP!

Before you do any abdominal exercises especialy anything Shred or plank like, you must check for diastasis recti. Look it up on youtube for how to check. If you have DR, planking etc will make everything much worse.

Lazysuzanne · 08/10/2013 11:31

Agree with Showtunesgirl!

'belly fat' may not be fat, it may be more that your abdominal muscles aren't holding your abdominal organs in as tightly as they should.

The belly is also often the last area from which fat is lost
