Glenlivet Trail Centre Review
We had a great day. After 7 year old ds2 headed off with his mountain bike club, I took 2 year old ds3 out for a short run on the trails. I used a Trailgator as he cannot manage the uphills - I was going to let him loose for the downhill bits but decided I better see what it was like first!
We only did a short loop of the blue (the whole blue is 9km) - instead of starting at the beginning of the trail we went up a forest track to join the blue near the end. I think it took less than 30 minutes.
It is a fantastic flowing trail with some great rollers and some twisty bits and one big berm. The downhill seems to go on and on for much longer than the uphill seemed to suggest IYSWIM. Our faces were like
when we got to the bottom.
Ds2 also had a fantastic time. He did the whole of the red trail (22km) and some of the black features (he says
). It took them somewhere between 2 and 2 and a half hours, but I think they stopped a lot to discuss tactics.
The cafe was great, if a bit busy at times. Nice cheap bacon rolls (£2) as well as more expensive burgers (£7). Lovely hot chocolate, and a good selection of cakes and traybakes. I didn't sample the cakes as they didn't have chocolate
but the traybakes were nice. The staff were lovely :)
We were planning to go back and do the wee loop of the Blue again after lunch, with ds3 doing the downhill bits solo, but ds2 was so tired after the mornings' efforts that we decided just to head home.
We will be back!
