I am aiming to start C25K next week, I am currently downloading the podcasts to my ipod. What elso do I need? (With links if poss?) I'm thinking:

Trainers (have a ropey old pair which I'll use to start)
Leggings/top - done
Sports bra? No idea where to buy, am big of nork
Some sort of armband thing for ipod?

Any tips welcome, tia

Def need a good bra - best one I've ever found is the Juno bra by Moving Comfort.

Watch not needed if you're downloading the podcast as they tell you when to start and stop.

Good trainers essential, esp if you're at all overweight, as you'll feel it in your knees and hips so need all the help you can to protect those joints.

I bought a cheap pair of headphones that hook over my ears as the earbud types just fall out when I run. However when I have sunglasses and a hairband on too, it does get a little congested behind my ears Grin

Armband thing not essential - you can just hold your ipod in your hand. If you do get one, make sure it's an adjustable one. I bought a pull-on lycra sleeve type thing, clearly designed for stick insects, which I can't get up my chubby arms. I wear it in a fetching wristband type arrangement.

Hiya. I'm gonna start this too. Was recommended by my not very tactful sister. Wondered how many times a week u do the recommended work outs? Is it 3 or more.

Thanks Cq - unfortunately I'm an F/FF and the Juno only seems to go up to a DD.

I've found a cheap adjustable holder for my v old ipod on Amazon, so just checking out earphones too.

Princess I'm just listening to the podcast as I download. I'm using the NHS ones, I can see what Cq means about not needing a watch, it's v organised. It's 3 days a week I think.

Hmmm, shame about the Juno, Chimney. I knew someone who used to wear two different sports bras for running - since they both worked in different areas, combined they did a great job. Maybe that's the way forward for ample norkage? Shouldn't have to be that way though should it?

With sports bras, the first thing to decide is what type:
One type encapsulates the breasts with moulded cups
The other type (compression) flatten the breasts against the chest

For high-impact activities, I use a compression bra, such as sportsjock - expensive, but very good at stopping any "bounce" Wink

I'm an FF and I've got a shock absorber- nothing moves at all during my runs.

Decent trainers definitely a must. Mine are starting to wear out now and holy crap am I feeling it. My glutes are killing me and I ran on Saturday morning. Go to a proper running shop, they'll be fine if you're on a budget and don't want to spend £90 million on flashy trainers.

Thank you. I did a MN search for threads on sports bras and followed a link for the Panache Ultimate which was a reasonable price on eBay. If I get off the ground with this programme then I'll look into spending more.

Good to hear a sports shop can cope with a budget eau, I'm a bit worried about turning up and looking clueless! There's a couple of independent shops near me so I may wait for a quiet day and slink in!
