Insoles for over pronating running

My shoes were fitted, but I've been wearing physio supplied insoles in them as my left foot twists round. And this has been OK, but on my long run yesterday, my feet started hurting around 8 miles and I think theres just not enough shock absorption with them (though my arches are great).

Theres a bit of a bewildering choice out there, so does anyone have recs for insoles I could try? This weeks long run will be 12 miles, so want to get something sorted before the weekend

Have you done a gait analysis with and without your insoles? Personally, I can't stand insoles. I had gait analysis done without them and ended up with shoes that correct my overpronation without insoles.

Re shock absorption - You might benefit hugely from a mid-foot strike as opposed to a heel strike. Take smaller (but quicker) steps and make a conscious effort to land mid-foot. This made a lot of difference to my running.

And if your foot is hurting, don't run until whatever is hurting is healed. Running on a hurting foot is really not a good idea, although I do understand that you want to go for your long run.
