Is this fatigue from (running) overtraining?

Hello runners, I've been training for a half marathon for a few months, there are 3 weeks to go till the race. i've built up to 20k about 3 weeks ago, and planned last weekend to do a long one again about 15kms...but things got in the way so I did a fast 8kms one day followed by a slow 12kms the day after. I was a bit stiff/sore and generally tired the day after..no big deal normally except that I've been like this all week now which is unusual for me (I've been running for a couple of years)
I went for a short run this morning to see if it might loosen things up a bit and I had to walk, I couldn't even do 5kms..my legs were the worst, like really really heavy. does anyone have any good advice...should I just rest, how long for?

If you've been trying to run all week I'd say give yourself a couple of days off, have long hot (cool?!!) baths and then try to run very early, before it gets hot. You have the long distance training under your belt, you can afford a couple of days off to recoup.
PS - you are mad. Anyone who does any running over 10k are mad, just thought I'd mention it Grin

Thanks Stowsettler, I am mad I agree (it's actually winter where I live so not quite as mad as you probably thought!). It's now Saturday and I'm still a bit sore and generally tired so think running is off till next week now....it's a bit of a relief to have an enforced breakSmile
