How do I lose the tummy?

It's 2 years since I had dc3. I've been pretty active and run/swim several times a week. The rest of me is slim and relatively toned, but I have a little round tummy which makes me look pg. Is there an abs programme that I can do at home which would finally tone my tum? I don't want to get into the shred or similar, but would be up for an abs equivalent to the squat challenge if something existed.

Thanks.

How about the 30 day crunch challenge?

Careful doing too many crunches, you can end up with sticky out tummy muscles Grin better to mix them up with planks, side planks, leg raises, supermans and twists with legs at 45deg.

Tummy fat is closely linked with stress and sugar intake....applicable to you? It doesn't really matter how fantastic your abs are if they are covered by fat so even if you aren't overweight you should maybe think about diet and exercise to try and improve muscle/fat ratio...perhaps start with adding some weight training to your cardio?

I have same problem - my tummy is huge. I've been reading Bret Contreras book called strong curves.

So far from what I have read you need to concentrate on the core. So squats and lifting with twisting. HIIT workouts are the best. I have The Firm DVD which has some HITT.

You can not get a good body from just AB work you need to lift and some cardio. Working on the core as general will strengthen your body and give you muscle. Waste of time on all these fancy machine he recommends a bench and barbell.

Agree diet is a must. I have always had a great diet and not a high consumer of sugar yet I carry a lot of fat. Over consumption of carbs and sugar will give you a pouch even on a slim person.

I would recommend Bret Contreras' books.

Stoopid question! Are you certain your tummy muscles aren't still split after having kids. Mine were several years after DC1.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I do still have a bit of a split but have been using it as an excuse. I realise my diet does have too much sugar so since you lot pointed it out I have been really careful. It isn't all messed up muscles.

I know I have to be careful not to aggravate the split, so will look into the exercises recommended and see if I can work out my own programme.
