Best running bra for large breasts?

DairyNips · 11/08/2012 21:04

I'm thinking of taking up running. I have 34 F/G breasts and am Breastfeeding at the moment. I need a really good bra that supports me well.

Which are the best ones out there? Tia Smile

Shock Absorber, high impact range. About £30. From Bravissimo and dept stores.

DairyNips · 11/08/2012 21:19

Ah right, thanksSmile

They were on offer on amazon so ordered myself a nice practical black one Grin

Enell are the dogs bollux for big boobs. Beat all other bras, even Shock Absorber level 4. Buy from boobydo. Front loaders and hard to do up. I have lie on my back, but my knockers don't move an inch, even when sprint finishing a race.

(34E)

Olympicnmix · 11/08/2012 22:15

ShockAbsorber are also on sale in Debenhams and from experience it's really worth trying them on, don't think I've ever ended up in a sports bra that's the same size as my other bras. With Shockabsorber found I had to go down in chest size and up a cup size to 34E. I have this purple & blue one that can be seen under cutaway tops but for minimum bounce/most support I also have this one in black. If Debenhams don't have the size/colour you want they will do free home delivery.

Olympicnmix · 11/08/2012 22:16

The black one I linked is Shock Absorber Level 4.

DairyNips · 11/08/2012 22:24

Thanks for the advice ladies. I would try one on but I live in the back of beyond and none of the shops here sell them.

Will see how it fits, hopefully I've picked the right size!Smile

Going to have a look at Enell too. If I manage to get going with this running lark I might try one of those too.

Enell. Amazing bras, but I must admit I haven't tried shock absorber.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 11/08/2012 22:33

I've got two Shock Absorber bras and they are pretty good at holding everything down. The only thing I would say is if they have to be quite tight to properly support you, it does make it difficult to breathe deeply!

Oh and you have to scour the Internet if you want a size bigger than a 38. I think mine came from Amazon in the end.

SchrodingersMew · 11/08/2012 22:57

I have a shock absorber and it's great but mines crosses at the back as well.

SchrodingersMew · 11/08/2012 22:58

32GG btw so the fact it keeps everything in place is a miracle.

SchrodingersMew · 11/08/2012 23:00

This is it, Shock absorber "run bra"

sagesponsoredbymacdonalds · 11/08/2012 23:42

Slight hijack-sorry!
Has anyone tried the Shock Absorber vest tops with integrated sports bra? Are they really as supportive as the bra alone?

Lancrehotpot · 11/08/2012 23:47

Enell, all the way. They don't move at all (36E)
I got mine from Boobydoo.

GrassIsntGreener · 11/08/2012 23:50

Yup, swear by shock absorber 'run' bra. Grin

SofaKingOld · 12/08/2012 07:53

Enell for me too. Tried shock absorber and my boobs still moved so was wearing 2 bras. With my enell they don't move an inch!

FoxtrotFoxtrotSierra · 12/08/2012 07:57

I used to have to wear 2 bras when I ran in a shock absorber. They chafe horribly when they're wet too (I finished a half marathon bleeding under my boobs). I've never had either problem with the Enell.

Fingerbobs · 12/08/2012 09:32

Another vote for Enell, I get mine from lessbounce dot com. Absolutely nothing moves, it's life-changing (and you can see your feet, also quite odd).

DairyNips · 12/08/2012 11:25

While you running ladies are on here can you recommend running clothes in general. I've got my trainers and the bra. Tried some tight running leggings that came to just below my knee on the other day, it wasn't a pretty sightSad I need leggings that are comfy and won't fall down or chafe. I also need a breathable top, not too tight (till I lose some weight!)

I wear fold over yoga leggings and Primark sell womans tops that are meant to be loose, I am wearing one just now and the sleeved are tight and normal but body is loose.

very comfy!

thenightsky · 12/08/2012 18:14

For tops I buy mens cycling shirts because they are nice and roomy and have a clever hem that dips at the back, thereby giving excellent arse coverage Wink I buy a men's small (I'm a 10/12)

I also have a reflective jacket for winter that is from the men's range.

I like the longer lengths for bum coverage.

Leggings are different matter. Roll over yoga ones fall down I find. In winter I wear, again, men's Ron Hill trackie bottoms. Women's ones are never long enough.

In summer I wear 3/4 leggings from M&S or cycle shorts.

Socks... in winter I buy up Primark soft thermal socks - a quarter the price of proper monoskins from the sports shops. I never get blisters with Primark socks.

DairyNips · 12/08/2012 18:34

Ah thanks for the advice. Will see what I can find Smile

I wear three quarter length running leggings, long ones in winter, usually what is going cheap at TK Maxx. I get cold and clammy in sweaty cotton, so I like the technical fabrics of proper sports kit. On top I wear cycling tops or outdoorsy 'base layers' , which I have for other sports anyway. Cycling jerseys have a handy back pocket for keys, ipod etc. Socks - again whatever I have for cycling, usually bought in bulk from Decathlon. Favorite top is my Howies merino one. I have a hi vis yellow running cagoule which I bought for a tenner from Aldi about five years ago ans performs as well as the much more pricey branded stuff I have had.

AstronomyDomine · 12/08/2012 20:01

Another here in favour of shock absorber. I've recently started running and have no problems running (even in the park where people can see me Grin ). I'm a 34FF.
